Some unedited, out-of-camera photos from today’s day trip to Katori Jingū, a popular Shinto shrine outside of Sawara, northeast of Narita (Chiba Prefecture). The shrine has a stone lantern lined approach that begins after some shops and restaurants found around the shrine's parking lot. Katori Jingū's oldest standing structures are its black painted main building and vermilion gate, which date from the year 1700.
The #lighthouse at #inubo in #chiba#japan. I showed you the coastline and the little train, I figured you should see the touristy highlight as well. Taken during #gw#goldenweek
If you're into #trains and more specifically from #japan, here is a remarkable specimen from #chiba. The #choshielectricrailway runs from the #jr station #choshi off onto the peninsula. There is no turnstile, no IC card reader - there are conductors on this train who will gladly take your cash in exchange for a stamped ticket. The charm of yesteryear!
Everywhere you go in #japan there are signs of economic decay, a time when things used to be different, and I imagine better. Stores, houses, pachinko parlors that have been closed and/or abandoned, often decades ago. I have a thing for this #dilapidated#storefront#chic. Here is an example from #nagareyama in #chiba.
