I think this is Spunky the Ayrshire, edging in on Sassy's photo. Sassy looks appalled, but really she is just chewing her cud and flapping her ears against flies.
The institute's founder, Mark McAfee, told the Los Angeles Times this weekend that his customers are, in fact, specifically requesting raw milk from #H5N1-infected #cows. According to McAfee, his customers believe, without evidence, that directly drinking high levels of the #avianinfluenza#virus will give them immunity to the deadly pathogen
In a nation where many revere cows, the animals' waste has become an energy resource.
BBC News reports: "Indian cattle produce around three-million tonnes of cow dung a day. ... The government wants more of that dung, and other agriculture waste, to be made into methane."
This Texas veterinarian helped crack the mystery of bird flu in cows.
AP reports: "The first calls that Dr. Barb Petersen received in early March were from dairy owners worried about crows, pigeons and other birds dying on their Texas farms. Then came word that barn cats — half of them on one farm — had died suddenly."

Farmers have been told they must discard any milk produced by cows that are infected with H5N1 virus, though it’s not clear if or how that recommendation is being enforced. And evidence that milk containing virus has made its way into the milk supply suggests either some farmers have ignored the advice, or asymptomatic infected cows may be emit viruses in their milk."
"U.S. health and agriculture officials are ramping up testing and tracking of bird flu in dairy cows in an urgent effort to understand — and stop — the growing outbreak."
AP reports: "So far, the risk to humans remains low, officials said, but scientists are wary that the virus could change to spread more easily among people."
I’m probably the last person on earth to learn this, or at least the last Texan to learn this: lady longhorns…have long horns. I just assumed big horns = bull. There’s two longhorn cows that live on land near my neighborhood, every time I drive by I say ‘I should take their photo’. Finally, on Sunday, I drove by & saw they were out. Went back to house, grabbed camera and swung back. Looking at the photos later I was udderly amazed to see…udders on them thar #longhorns.
We were able to arrange for medical transport for my mother. So they are preparing her for her journey to #ChesapeakeVA. I’m in #WestVirginia making my way north, back home. True to form, I fully feel like the Ten of Swords. Little emo pincushion boy. #today#travel#cows
Teaching can be a tough, joyless job sometimes, but on other days you get a Yr 8 student who reimagines Much Ado by having Disney-style talking cows for characters and calling it "Much A-Moo About Nothing" and you literally cry with laughter #MuchAMoo#Cows#Shakespeare#Education#Teaching#EduGlow@edutooters
