**definitely a "soft sell" on the facts behind climate change, trying not to trigger their likely right-leaning viewers... discusses climate change without mentioning keywords like "climate change", "CO2 emissions", or mentioning causes of what they refer to as "continued carbon pollution" (ie fossil fuels usage, a huge industry in TX)
Article:
"They are projecting there to be a 61% chance that the summer of 2024 will beat the summer of 2023 as the warmest year on record. Why? Some of it has to do with continued carbon pollution trapping more heat in the Earth’s atmosphere resulting in summer temperatures arriving earlier and being hotter. "
NOAA: A dangerous early season heat wave will cointue over South Texas, and intensify in South Florida, through Memorial Day. Record warm overnight temperatures in these areas will provide little to no relief to those without adequate or reliable cooling.
Heat impacts are likely to be highest in South Texas, where heat index readings approaching or exceeding 115 degrees are expected.

Solar panels + backup battery in Houston (solely to run your A/C) would be useful right about now. Heat Index of 95F. (this, as big chunks of the city are still out of power). Hopefully folks are finding shelter at friends/relatives/etc. #TXwx#heat
@smallerdemon Yikes! Two weeks. Unfortunately, solar panel + battery backup is still quite cost prohibitive (the battery is the expensive part -- solar panels have gotten very inexpensive). Solar panels have a payback of 5-10 years depending on where you are, but the batteries are a lot, lot more.
@thehomespundays I have that in my pocket as backup, my inverter will output enough 120V to power a window AC, but nothing more. It would be acceptable as a survival measure. (but not comfortable, by any means).
It's been a long time since I've had the energy and inspiration to do #pixelart for the #pixel_dailies but the #heat theme made me think of a melted candle. This turned out pretty well, I think. Due to the relatively subtle shading, no predefined palette this time #mastoart
