A young rider came off his horse during a race at the Dingle Races last August. His horse continued on, but the unlucky rider had to get out of the way of other horses.
#WildHorseWednesday! Another shot of Clorox and Cooper. Sometimes those teenagers want to test their limits, lol. Band stallion Clorox straightens young Cooper out with a 'kiss' on the cheek. This type of 'challenge' is a training exercise.
For #WedsNeigh here is a picture of me and the dude and Azhi Baba (the grey) and Fallon (the bay) in front of the Great Pyramids in Feb., 2003.
We had an invite from a friend who was living in Cairo, and when she asked me about itineraries I said "if I could ride an Arabian horse in Egypt I will be happy". She knew some people who ran a non-terrible riding concession at the Great Pyramids, and my dream came true.
The Bureau of Land Management (#BLM) is continuing to remove #Nevada 's wild horse herds from their legally mandated habitat, and the death toll is rising nearly every day.
Since the #roundup in the #AntelopeComplex began on July 9th, 11 #WildHorses have lost their lives – including five #foals who died from various preventable issues and four #horses who suffered broken necks.
The #BLM has captured 916 #horses so far, and over two thousand more are in danger as the agency plans to continue its #roundups in the #AntelopeComplex.
I butt heads with my mom A LOT. And over some pretty significant social issues. But I will be the first to sing her praises:
MY MOM IS A BADASS.
She's 79 years old. We ride horses together with my 10yo daughter. On this morning's ride, my mom's horse jumped a creek and she fell off. At 79. And she got right back up on that horse and rode for nearly another hour.
Today I celebrate the life of Oreo! An iconic Onaqui stallion lost last week due to injuries. It's part of life in the wild, the cost of freedom some say.
A fixture of the north herd for many years, he was a band stallion and had run with the bachelors. He was a benevolent teacher of the young.
Sometimes you just need to lay down for a little bit. A pillow under your head and a favorite plushie under your arm for a few helps recharge your batteries.
I still need to go out and get Rx's at the drugstore today but i need a horizontal moment or two beforehand. It's nap o'clock.
Some people might think i'm weird for still liking plushies but truth is, they have helped a lot with anxiety and depression at times. They also help me sleep better.
I have a bunch of different kinds, several types of animals and they are all great but i'm huge fan of plush horses. I collect Wells Fargo ponies and they seem to have the strongest sleep magic. I now own 7 but this older mobile pic is of 5 of them.
I can't stay awake if i hold one and close my eyes.
TIL horses sleep standing up, but lie down to dream. (www.scientificamerican.com)
Horses are specially built to snooze on their hooves, but there’s a catch
