The Caldeirão Verde waterfall during a really heavy downpour, which was probably one of the most tropically impressive views in Madeira, Portugal. 🇵🇹 This waterfall is 100 meters high, and the water flows into a huge basin. My entire photo equipment was totally soaked, miraculously nothing was damaged!

The common #loon, that #icon of northern #wilderness, is under threat from #ClimateChange due to declining #WaterClarity. Published earlier this month in the journal #Ecology, a study conducted by #biologists from #ChapmanUniversity & #RensselaerPolytechnicInstitute has demonstrated the first clear #evidence of an effect of climate change on this species whose distinct call is so tied to the soundscape of #Canada’s lakes & #wetlands.

North Canyon Abstract

This image was captured in a section of Grand Canyon National Park called North Canyon. There are many smaller canyons in The Grand Canyon and one of them is North Canyon.
We hiked up North Canyon from the Colorado River. About a mile or so up the canyon we came to this pool.
This image is a natural abstract created by erosion over millions of years.

Great Basin National Park

I finally made my way to Great Basin National Park in Nevada and took the trail out to the only glacier in Nevada. The Wheeler Peak Glacier runs through the middle of the basin high above the tree line. Wheeler Peak rises above the glacier with a backdrop of mostly cloudy skies.
