Palestinian journalists received the 2024 World Press Freedom Prize.
"Between 7 October, 2023, and 11 May, 2024, 143 Palestinian journalists in Gaza were killed by Israel...killing the storyteller as the quickest way of killing the story itself"
Gazan journalists know they are targeted, but continue in their mission.
Israel doesn't allow foreign press and it worked in the past. The article explain why that's no longer the case.

“We strive to tell the human story from where the missiles land, to elevate the human spirit and the hope that it brings for better days, to shine a light on places and stories those in power would rather keep shrouded in darkness.”

@appassionato @palestine I still grive for that wonderful woman, #ShireenAbuAhkleh - murdered by an #Israeli sniper who has never been held accountable. Yet #Israel knows who it was. Even sadder is that hundreds more journalists have been murdered by #IDF since - many in the recent attack on Gaza. Still, not one Israeli soldier has been charged for any of these hundreds of murders - not one.

Its World Press Freedom Day & its worth remembering that not all journalist are the supine, press-release rehashing, wage slaves of corporate Right wing media companies...

Across the world & even here in Britain, there are journalists braving bullying, economic sanctions, libel cases, deaths threats & actual fatalities to reveal to us what is going on in the world.

Without them, the plight of democracy would be even worse than it is.
