Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) revealed they were a victim of a ransomware attack. The attack happened on Jan 23, and has disrupted operations in call centres, but bus routes are not impacted. KCATA is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and get its systems up and running. The Medusa ransomware group has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
