Any plans for #today? My #cats will leave for 2 weeks. It's getting cold in #Finland. I will go to the #gym. I've been pleasantly surprised how much strength I still have after all the surgeries made. I had a break in #exercising but I haven't lost much #muscle. E.g. in the back extension machine #PT put 50 kilos' weights for me (110 pounds). And 36 kilos (79 pounds) in the crunch machine. I don't know if that's much for a woman but at least I think so 🤔 #weighlifting#kuntosali#suomimastodon
The past few days I’ve been taking creatine powder. From what I can see on YouTube, it’s used by gym enthusiasts to help them lift more weights and recover quickly.
As I’ve been feeling quite exhausted from walking a lot, I’ve been trying creatine, and I can tell you I’ve been feeling far less sore on the daily! But the weirdest thing is that I realised last night I was having half the dose as I need two teaspoons rather than one, but I’m still noticing the effects!
When I was in eighth grade, my biology teacher told us "you can build muscle until the day you die." I've always remembered that.
The Washington Post felt like confirming that today:
"The new study of resistance exercise and the elderly found that even people in their 80s and 90s — who had never lifted weights before — showed significant gains"
same weight (92,5kg) tried to improve my #technique ... Did I succeeded?
What I changed was basically rotating my feed a little bit more outwards which allowed me to keep my chest more upwards and getting a overall more stable position.
Good morning all!
How strong are you feeling today?
Increasing Muscle Strength and Function in Older Adults with Cocoa Powder
As an older adult (I'm 74), I found this video really interesting and thought of the conversation with Sharon the other day about our shared concern for maintaining muscle strength.
This video (or you can read the transcript) is worth watching:
Even if I don't consider myself a #vegan I find this is the easiest way for me. Easy to store easy to cook. That's enough for 4 meals. Saves me the time of #cooking for the next 3 days.
I don't like the term but I would even consider this as #healthy 😀
One day I might try using stable diffusion to turn myself into a ttrpg character. What class/race should I be? Pathfinder2e preferred… but I’ll tolerate that other system too.
Using a sore muscle normally?
Let's say that I feel a little pain after doing some exercise I don't normally do....
