Just had a moment where I was about to refer to the state of Rhode Island, and my brain was like, "Don't be ridiculous. There's no USA state called Rhode Island, which isn't even an island. How silly"
"Pencils come from Pennsylvania
Vest from Vest Virginia
And Tents from Tent-esee
They know mink where they grow
Mink in Wyo-mink
A camp chair in New Hamp-chair
That's for me
And minnows come Minnesota
Coats come from Dakota
But why should you be blue?
For you, you come from Rhode Island
Don't let them ride Rhode Island
It's famous for you"
Knowing some of the lyrics to the song "Rhode Island Is Famous For You" actually does NOT help me remember that Rhode Island is a real thing
Proud to have my Yes to Wind sign, courtesy of Climate Action #rhodeisland, in my front yard!
This is the direction that the #climate movement needs to move in: to proactive solutions, not just problems; to being for things like #offshorewind as the necessary and urgent solution to the #climatecrisis.
There are Primary Elections today in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. Wisconsin also has primaries today along with ballot measures to vote on.
Arkansas and Mississippi voters have runoff elections today to decide a handful of legislative seats that were sent to runoffs after primaries held in March.
I finally had some time to summarize the front movements of the last 6 months according to my maps. It is the same time period since the US Congress has been hampered by Trump and his allies to release the next military aid to Ukraine. I concluded the following numbers:

Investing in our public infrastructure, from sidewalks to bridges to public transportation to public housing to public parks to mitigating the climate crisis, benefits all of us. But across America, billionaires & the politicians they pay for prefer tax cuts for the 1%. #RI
We can have a #RhodeIsland that works for all of us. We live in the wealthiest nation on earth. No one should be sleeping in tents. Our bridges should work. We should be making RIPTA more efficient, safer, and more dependable, not fighting cuts to service. We should ban childhood hunger, not books.
Happy Black History Month! Here's a repost honoring the renowned painter Edward Bannister (Nov 2, 1828 – Jan 9, 1901) who loved and worked in #RhodeIsland. He was an abolitionist and helped found @RISD. Visit his statute in #Providence. #BlackHistoryMonth
