Taitō (台東区, Taitō-ku) is Tokyo’s smallest ward, yet it contains a lot of history, boasting major tourist magnets such as Asakusa's Sensō-ji Temple, Ueno Park, or the Ameyoko street market. But walk on any of its side streets, and you will discover homely and surprisingly quiet neighborhoods with quirky and photogenic details.
Coming soon to a Nintendo Switch or PS4 near you, whether you like it or not! It's the Taito arcade title Tokio, a decidedly lackluster shoot 'em up from 1986. Tokio plays like a halfway point between Capcom's 1942 and Nichibutsu's Terra Cresta, with your biplane flying over the Japanese cityscape, blasting formations of stealth...
@OutofPrintArchive bust-a-move was such a timeless game. Introduced in 1994 [fixed typo], it was still relevant in 1998 when it launched on Nintendo 64 (and playstation etc). Still a great game to this day, no matter the platform.
It even was ported to the Texas Instrument Avigo. I did the levels design and did the music for it.
[🧵 9/19] The most obvious different are the graphics- instead of controlling tall, lanky cowboys, you instead commandeer adorable chibi-ified gunslingers. More significantly, however, Western Gun allows players to move freely around the field, and thus shoot in all directions. This fact alone makes it (possibly) the first twin-stick shooter ever created! It’s also (as far as I know) the first game to feature human-on-human violence (just a hop, skip, and a jump from this to Mortal Kombat!).

👾 Retro gamers, here are a couple of classic titles you may know. The Simpsons Bart VS. The Space Mutants and Toki.
First, Toki was very challenging for a little kid, but it was one of my favorite games in my collection. It provided that challenge but without being impossible to play.
Simpsons Bart vs. the Space Mutants was just a game that all my friends gravitated towards since it was of a character everyone knows. I never really got into this game, but my friends did.
Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. I really need to find better sources of retro gaming information... the well always seems to be dry at the usual places I visit....
Oh no! Here comes Tokio! (www.timeextension.com)
