working in ocaml really discourages testing (i said it, don’t @ me)

i mean, it works out fine in the real world; the absurdly powerful typechecking combined with an obsessive / careful / skilled engineering community makes them surprisingly unnecessary in practice

is there a tutorial/book/resource out there that teaches 'mathematical maturity' (a phrase I keep seeing used to refer to, afaict, "knowing how to come up with proofs?") ...

... that perhaps focuses more on basic examples from, idk, set theory or category theory? (instead of the inevitable geometry/number-theory.)

i rly struggle to hold any motivation when asked to "show things" about, idk, primes, or square roots, or whatever. just so utterly brain-instantly-zone-out to me, and the results are not exciting, or insightful, do not inspire me to be excited or feel like i glimpsed something fundamental about the universe;

whereas the moment it was clear to me what the Yoneda lemma was saying (... if, in fact, i understand it ... but I think i do?), it was like a bolt of light, obviousness, joy.

i want more of that. that motivates. me. "show that there are infinitely many primes" does not motivate me, idfuckingk. helllllp
