Was at the vet in Coal today, went for a walk along the beach. There are two wrecked ships on the shore, an old fishing vessel and this sailing boat. Looks like she was built for speed.

A wrecked large sailing yacht lying on it's side above the high water mark. View is from above.

The fig tree used to have two figs on, but one fell off so now there is one, hope it ripens. There are more coming but there's no chance of them ripening. It's a year one tree so maybe better luck next year.

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@MaggieCi I'm no expert, first season with the tree, but they are so small at the moments and the other one has taken so long to ripen, I'm not seeing it happen. Weirdly, the first thing to appear this year was the two figs, before it had any leaves at all.

There’s been a lot of speculation around what Threads will be and what it means for Mastodon. We’ve put together some of the most common questions and our responses based on what was launched today:

@Mastodon Don't care, I won't be joining as Zuckerberg is involved. Anybody who ever thought a photo "hot or not" site is a good idea displays such a high degree of unempathetic arseholedness, imo they don't deserve any support ever. His behaviour since has just reinforced that opinion. Yes I do have a long memory!

Left this in the kitchen, all morning. It never did a thing. Useless!

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@fitheach You probably have to talk to it the right way. Watch the film Dark Star to get some tips then try again. Let there be light.

So here's an interesting Q.: how much of the reported shift in public opinion on (and thus on wanting to rejoin the EU) is driven by demographic change, and how much by a real change of opinion?

If older conservative (with a small 'c') Leave have been dying off in the last seven years, and young more cosmopolitan voters coming of age, is the shift more about the changing make-up of the voting population than individuals actually change their minds?

Not sure, but wondering....

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@tokensane @blingoali @ChrisMayLA6 "Execution" and "those who campaigned for it" resonates quite nicely used in the same sentence 😂 Not that I'd advocate for anything like that obviously.

Erm, no comment.

@fitheach Ooookaay, so it's not glam rock, it's not soft rock, and it's not prog rock, soooo it must then be hard rock 😂

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@fitheach Could be their next album cover

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@fitheach Ah, so you know Coverdale too. He asked me to take over from Joel on the farewell tour as he was being a real pain in the ass, but I was far too busy filling in for Vai at the time cos he'd busted his hand 😂

Nope!
Pretty certain you wouldn't get an elephant in that pool.

@fitheach Are you sure?

Been away for the weekend. Had a wonderful time. Came home to find the house had been burgled. Not yet sure what is missing. Place is in a mess.

The feeling of elation has quickly taken a downturn.

Glencoe,
@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

@fitheach How very odd, to break in and take nothing, weird. Oh, wait, hold on, maybe it's not a theft attempt, but a clever plot to leave something, but what? Who knows, but it's unlikely to be a good thing, best call Sherlock. Sleep well.

@fitheach I'd say you're about six feet away from being dinner.

@fitheach Is it somewhere twinned with Millport?

@Glencoe@mastodon.scot avatar

Dear holiday makers. Have you any idea how annoying it is to follow someone dawdling along the road for mile after mile, then when a good overtaking opportunity occurs, they put the pedal to the metal and shoot off making overtaking at best difficult, if not impossible, then slow down to dawdle speed again when the opportunity is gone? Some of us are going places, have stuff to do and limited time to do it. Enjoy the scenery by all means, but please do let following traffic pass. Don't be a dick

Glencoe,

@fitheach I got the midgie hat dug out already. Hat, gloves over sleeves, troosers tucked into socks.

@fitheach I'd go for the full chemical suit, but white just isnae ma colour and it'd clash wi ma handbag 😂

Absolutely inexcusable - "‘Mind-boggling’ from revealed - Leaks of potent greenhouse gas could be easily fixed, say experts, and would rapidly reduce global heating - Methane leaks alone from Turkmenistan’s two main fossil fuel fields caused more global heating in 2022 than the entire carbon emissions of the UK, satellite data has revealed.

Methane emissions have surged alarmingly since 2007 and this acceleration may be the biggest threat to keeping below 1.5C of global heating, according to scientists. It also seriously risks triggering catastrophic climate tipping points, researchers say.

Emissions of the potent greenhouse gas from the oil- and gas-rich country are “mind-boggling”, and an “infuriating” problem that should be easy to fix, experts have told the Guardian.

The data produced by Kayrros for the found that the western fossil fuel field in Turkmenistan, on the coast, leaked 2.6m tonnes of methane in 2022. The eastern field emitted 1.8m tonnes. Together, the two fields released emissions equivalent to 366m tonnes of , more than the UK’s annual emissions, which are the 17th-biggest in the world."

Yes yes, but it's private enterprise, and everybody knows private enterprise doesn't need regulation as it's self regulated by market forces, corruption, and bribery, which cannot be criticised as it's always perfect, according to private enterprise. Oh dear, the sarcasm runs strong this morning.

Seriously, are there no international regulations that can be used to shut these facilities down until fixed?

@fitheach That could mean they've been using the same lemon on a string dangling in the mixture for years.
