@thepoliticalcat Winter time here we can be anywhere between 50F (10C) windy and raining - or 10F (-11C) and very frosty. We don’t get so much snow but a lot of raw damp cold, our word for this is dreich. You would be welcome to move here and vote with us! We need all the support we can get 🤗

@tiedye I overdyed this with procion orchid with an 1/8tsp of better black for a cooler toned purple. I was concerned that overdyeing it would cover up all the lovely splits but this came out great!

@MsHearthWitch The problem with CW is that it is basically a work of mind reading - what will unspecified other people find offensive? How do I cover it? How do I title that cover? Now we can learn that one
Issue is eye contact, and use a CW saying ‘eye content in photo’ then we can add pet eye contact or wildlife eye contact, line drawn eye contact etc… but if social media is also about social connections for isolated people with Generalised Anxiety maybe unsolicited eye contact is just what they need… it’s hard to balance the two. Eye contact and interaction can bring down anxiety and feelings of loneliness. I have basically stopped sharing about food on here and I did it all the time on X… I don’t feel comfortable with the CWs but I also can’t deal with the Mastodonites who bash around calling out other people for not using them.

Being on the woke left is kinda like sinning all the time with no redemption arc. imo we need to party more when we get it right. We’ve got the shame thing down but what about when people get insight into their participation in a system of oppression? We should be having more fun with our successes and celebrating the Ws

@seachanger @ryanrandall I feel heard! I call it ‘shame surfing’ 🏄‍♀️ using the shame as the force to keep me going. Trying to kick the habit (not good for the self esteem) but it is hard cos surfing is addictive!

Finished the first repeat!

Hoping for a blocking miracle with this one, the single ply Merino looks so... messy, even though I know I have nice tension. Not so much with this I guess.

Kitchen tiles update: This is just sitting in place not glued yet but pieced together, glazed and ‘weathered’ a little the chimney brace now needs papered and painted and then the mantelpiece can go on and we can fix it all in place. The cupboard to the left is yet to be constructed. At least I am making progress

protip: if you see an article saying something like "people who [drink/eat/do] [something] live longer on average!", find the link to the actual paper, open it up, search for the words "economic", "wealth", and "income". if you get zero hits, close the paper and stop reading the article. soooooo many healthy living studies are just measures of wealth.

@Alice I have a PhD 😢 and I have been unemployed for a year🥺 and then spent the next year working on a self employed basis for a pitance! So many failed interviews… But I have a nice dolls house! And I start a p/t job on 1st January. 🥳
