The most useful invention I've ever run across... Corsi-Rosenthal box.

I have used this so far for:

  1. Wildfire smoke
  2. COVID-19
  3. Bacon smoke (on Saturdays, LOL)
  4. General improvement of AQI
  5. Pet related allergies (hay and dander)
  6. Ragweed/pollen heavy days
  7. Dust from Santa Ana winds
  8. Dust from construction/remodeling
  9. Paint fumes (only partially useful, doesn't absorb gases, but helps somewhat) -- plus it sucks all the dust from the air, so it doesn't stick to your paint

(probably other uses, too...)

Alternate idea on tape.

I use 2" painters. Cheaper in bulk, unless you are using really crappy duct/duck tape.

Bonus: when time to change filters - peels off cleanly.

I know that I will always have at least 1 unit now... so I've been musing about how to set up something without using the tape... say a framework to put the filters into - that supports the fan and maintains a seal.

Someway to make it look like furniture would be kind of cool.

HEPA vacuumed the floor of five rooms and restarted by Corsi Rosenthal boxes (because of construction dust EVERYWHERE).

My son says: "why bother, they are going to create more dust"

But, my thought is the more removed the less that sticks to the ceilings and walls. I'll have to change out the filters though (for both the vacuum and the Corsi Rosenthal boxes)-- drywall dust clogs them up! (better the filters than my lungs).

This weekend travels I used map GPS for basic guidance to destination.

Partway through I took a side trip to Higgins Lake without shutting off the GPS. So it started doing re-route messages.

At some point I think I made it mad by not following the re-route.

The voice shifted from American English women to an Australian English women.

It went on like that until we got back on planned route.

We got a great laugh out of it.

So beware folks. The rebellion might start by simply ignoring GPS.

Folks ask if poor people use face masks...

Imagine yourself at the store counter and you want to pay for your food and you have a box of N95 or KN95 masks - but turns out they cost too much for your monthly allotment.

Do you:
-- remove food from cart?
-- remove masks?

** Seriously - you wonder about that choice?

It should not be a choice!

They deserve healthcare.

How do I know? Because any of us is a moment away from poor - and I still want healthcare if I was there.

Well... this is disappointing.

Each time I read / hear about these results - I think: Wow. Apollo was some scientific miracle. Slide rules. Very limited processors & switching.

If humans have lost the skills in 50-60 years... no wonder we can't figure out how humans of yore built the pyramids and more.

Folks talk about the two earthquake zones: Pacific Northwest and California...

I find the New Madrid quake to be the the one that is going to be "the one"... so many people in what will be the affected zone.

The last big one here was 212 years ago. Reversed the Mississippi.

So much has changed in the surrounding States - and all the houses & buildings not built to earthquake zone standards.

I wonder if I'm being overly aggressive on my bike on walking trails. I always cede the way, give a good berth when I pass, and ring my bell. However, sometimes I feel like I'm startling people.

If they have ear buds in... they have left the present and likely never hear you.

Of course, this is not ideal for them... they should have at least one ear available to the world.

Also... they could be hearing impaired to some level.

30,000 people out in the middle of Burnet County, TX for an eclipse festival.

Also, funny comment about the music and the county "not having rules" but not liking the late night music.

"They have bands playing all night long, which we really didn’t realize. That really wasn’t part of the permit process…in the county, we really don’t have rules. There’s a certain decibel amount, but it’s pretty high. So, we really don’t have a lot of leverage to shut them down."

above 50º today. So i went on a short bike ride. Between covid, work, more covid, holiday. im an grossly out of shape 😩. Baby steps. Hope to get back to mountain biking and possibly doing the full Kalhaven trail this year.
