...How should Valve approach this wide dimension?

PC desktop setups vary almost as much as there are users..

◉Steam Deck's smooth success & support is largely based on the fact its users have 100% known hardware on their hands
◉Could it be that Valve brings Steam OS for desktop via some sort of "Steam OS Verified Hardware" solution?
◉Ones PC scanned during installation / given a rating?

I have to say, @kde Plasma is truly amazing, it offers so much customization that I wouldn't call it a desktop environment but a framework.

However, perhaps it should be cleaned up so that the novice user can find themselves more comfortable and free to customize it as they sees fit.

Agreed - luckily it's though "clean enough".

It was a good choice from Valve for Steam Deck's desktop mode as it's also quite traditional about where stuff can be found.
