There should be a equivalent for shops, like a decentralised version of Shopify, Etsy etc that emphasises indie creators, and uses ZERO "big tech" like Amazon or eBay.

You could set up your own instance or join someone else's dedicated to a theme, sell and ship your products, interact with other shop instances, and your shop's items could appear as if it were a post on Mastodon, PixelFed etc. for those who are on an ActivityPub server running said software.

Whatever you might think about , it's a great time-saver if you know how to use it.

I just saved hours of time searching for files by asking ChatGPT to write an mkdir command to make 100 directories titled after my tracks, then write a command that goes through my cover artworks in one folder, collects them by name, then puts them in either of the 100 directories named after them.

It's quite a complicated command I'd never be able to come up with, so I'll write it in the next post!

Only one more week to go until I release my 96th "Dead Internet"!

Getting into the spirit, this track out on soundtracks the creepy theory that the is "dead" and overrun with bots.

This tune gets creepier as it plays, symbolising the Internet's decay into the corporatised, -powered dumpster fire we know it today!

Video playing the first 2 minutes and 22 seconds of my upcoming vaporwave track "Dead Internet" in Logic Pro. MIDI regions are coloured purple at the top and form a gradient to turquoise at the bottom. The music opens with a bell pad crescendo that quickly gets faster, then a trumpet melody and another upbeat bell melody. What follows is a heavily-reverbed beat and bell melody inspired by sounds like that of Windows 95, then a funk bassline melody kicks in, followed by another bell melody section introduced by the same trumpet and bell sounds from the beginning. Music notes shown in the video. As for this video's thumbnail, it's Dead Internet's cover artwork. With a pastel purple, turquoise, and white colour scheme, it's set in a vaporwave world with a white line grid on the floor and in the sky. An anthropomorphic cartoon bear called Cockburn (pronounced "co-burn"), who wears a purple hoodie and is coloured purple himself (he's usually yellow), is surrounded by pop-ups dominating the front of the image. Companies looking to put writing, animation, video or art on their web sites would call it "content"

It flattened innumerable forms of culture into a sort of goo, extruded from a tube

25 years on, the term "content" has metastasized, eating whole the way many people talk about -- think about -- culture.

I've made some making fun of the of the ! 🎶

It's called "Dead Internet" and starts as a peaceful tune inspired by computery sounds of the late 90s, but as it progresses it distorts and becomes a creepier husk of itself, symbolising the Internet's mutation into the --filled, -driven, -generated race to the bottom we know it today! 🌐

After wrestling with numerous technical doohickeys I FINALLY upgraded my own to 4.2.0! 🥳

I followed the instructions on https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.2.0 and spent a LOT of time troubleshooting errors.

The only thing I haven't configured yet is ElasticSearch which allows for full-text search. Will configure it later! I'm just so happy I got Mastodon 4.2.0 working at least.

Just had to restore my own #SelfHosted #Mastodon #Instance from a week-old #DigitalOcean backup after having lots of problems while trying to the new Mastodon 4.2.0 update. Thank goodness for back-ups! 😪

I admit I'm not quite familiar with updating Ruby, Node.js, NPM and Yarn, but I am learning. As I'm on 4.1.7 currently, I'll try updating to 4.1.8 and then 4.1.9 first before updating to 4.2.0 as mentioned in https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.2.0 👍
