We lived in Anne Arundel County for 9 years. I’ve driven over Key Bridge countless times. We sailed under it in our little 27ft Hunter sailboat. The cargo ships headed in/out of Baltimore would blow their horns as our kids waved.

Shaken by today’s events. Some things seem permanent. I guess nothing is.

In the late 80s ‘concern’ about childhood obesity caused complaints about fast food advertisements directed at children. Happy Meals if ordered without modifications contained more calories than was recommended for a meal for a child under 12. This is why Wendy’s McDonalds and other have “apple slices” — if you replace the fries in a kids meal with apples the meal comes just under the limit. The funny thing is i love fast food apple slices they are my guilty pleasure. 1/

@tkinias @funkula @futurebird - When I was in elementary school, our district still baked fresh yeast bread at each school. Pizza was a square of thick fresh bread with sauce and cheese on top. On Salisbury steak days, at least the yeast rolls were edible. The change to pre-fab food was traumatic.

Shout out to Tacoma

In California, hundreds of protesters organized by the Arab Resource and Organizing Center occupied the Port of Oakland to prevent its Cape Orlando military vessel from delivering weapons and military equipment to Israel. While the shipment from Oakland was eventually shipped to its initial destination in the Port of Tacoma, this morning, activists have also blocked this port’s entrance, preventing the Israel-bound vessel from departing.

My daughter-in-law updated us on her family in . Her grandmother is safe. Her uncle’s first floor is flooded, but they are okay. Her aunt’s home is completely submerged. The family is on their rooftop & on a waiting list to be rescued. It’s like Katrina, but no one is paying attention.

Update - Maria’s uncle got his sister’s family off their roof. Entire family (Grandma, Uncle’s family, Aunt’s family) now staying at uncle’s house (with destroyed first floor). They’ve lost everything & can’t even buy basics in . Brother in Cabo is on his way with truckload of supplies.

This is another Katrina. It’s bad & getting worse. Our extended family is okay b/c they have family throughout Mexico & US. Others do not. Please pay attention to what’s happening.

Mileage varies, but I think “toot” sounds even more preposterous over time. It’s made worse when you consider the absurd proposition that the same activity on any unique social media platform should have its own term of art just for brand differentiation. It’s like Ford calling it it a “steering wheel,” Chevy calling it a “navigation wheel,” and “Tesla calling it a “Wheel for $8.” It’s a post. That’s all it ever has to be.
