Argentinean activist Esteban Servat stands trial this Wednesday 30/8 in #Copenhagen for occupying the #Scandinavian headquarters of #TotalEnergies.
The occupation involved over 20 other activists, demanding Total end its destructive operations of #oil and #gas extraction around the world. But Esteban - co-founder of #Debt4Climate - is the only one singled out for the occupation. He is being charged under the Danish Penal Code for trespassing.

BREAKING 🚨 Activists & scientists from @ExtinctionR#Denmark and @ScientistRebellion Denmark are occupying the #climate ministry in Copenhagen, demanding the resignation of the climate minister Lars Aagaard. Denmark's #emissions are increasing, the government is failing, and time is running out.
Act 2 of #BefriJorden took place yesterday, over 1,000 people slow-marching and then sitting down on the street in Copenhagen. The scientists were there too with a simple message: #TheScienceIsClear: industrial monoculture farming is detroying nature and endangering our health, and we need to immediately transition to regenerative forms of food production. We demanded the protection of #nature, the end of #pesticides and a stop to new investments in destructive forms of #agriculture in #Denmark.
The government responded by arresting over 100 people, including several researchers and academics.
Together with @ExtinctionR and hundreds of people protesting against the destruction of #nature and #biodiversity, we started a slow march from Christiansborg Palace in the early afternoon.

The march included citizens from all walks of life, including scientists, doctors, teachers, caretakers, students, children and the elderly. We were united in the belief that the #Danish government is failing us.🌱 #ActNow 4/n
Throughout the march, we stopped at several locations, blocking traffic, including the Knippelsbro bridge in Copenhagen. The government is not listening to us, so we sat on the road and refused to leave when told to do so.

Aitzkoa, medical doctor and biomedical researcher from @ScientistRebellion Sweden was arrested for sitting on the road, protesting against the criminal inaction of global leaders in the ongoing climate and ecological crisis.

Denmark is the most cultivated country in the EU to produce animal feed for industrial farming. 80% of the crops is monoculture destroying biodiversity & contaminating soils & water with pesticides. (5/n)
#Denmark is also forcing #Indigenous communities to move from their land by exporting #emissions and #pollution to #SouthAmerica, where they grow soy monoculture on an area equivalent to almost 20% of the Danish territory. (6/n)
The #Danish industrial farming #lobby Landbrug & Fødevarer claims that they 'will show the world an #economic and #sustainable way to a #climate neutral food production', yet they have absolutely no strategy for transitioning. (7/n)
Instead, the council is lobbying for #TechnoFixes pretending their hands are tied by a growing population: this a lie. We could feed twice more people with a #plantbased#food system based on #regenerative#agriculture and avoid the #pollution of soils, groundwater & #oceans. (8/n)
