Indeed, she had deep respect for Brown and supported his militant approach to the abolition of slavery, something that was somewhat uncommon at that time when many anti-slavery agitators were advocating for a more pacifist approach.

I migrated as well, that’s a brilliant summary of the easier ethos at Mastodon—some of my favorite people seem to have more openness and number-seeking isn’t an activity so far as I’ve seen. But then I’m from Vermont, small but mighty. 😂

Folks stood and yelled a lot at Xitter, where here it’s a take-a-load-off and chat climate. Much more conducive to meaningful conversations. Still plenty of debate and 🐈‍⬛ pics for moi. Welcome. I’m SherBear.

Guess I have to repeat this:

When we get good news (legal, Israel/Hamas, whatever), can we take just 2 measly minutes to appreciate it before blasting it to smithereens and whining about how the good news is really bad news?

People are beginning to sound like the NYT "Blame Biden" headlines every time he has a win.

For your own mental health, accept the wins. Push harder for more, but FFS, good news is rare. Embrace it.

OR, just don't toot me with the whining. I'm trying to stay sane here.

    To all of you whose wonderful, kind, compassionate words and support have been so helpful, I have sad news: Father In Law passed away. Mr. Laffy just called in tears, but there was a small silver lining… FIL got his final wish and died peacefully in his sleep. That was so comforting for all of us. I can never thank you guys enough for your consistent caring and empathy. You’ve been beyond amazing. ❤️💔

    It's fine to have an opinion...but they're OPINIONS.

    I'm seeing so many replies all over the place from so many people who think they "know" what's going on over there. Nobody knows. We only know what's being reported (badly, inaccurately, &/or inconsistently).

    Can we stop insisting that what we think is how everyone should think?

    I won't even opine on the war. Not touching it w/ a 10-ft keyboard
