Ha! Must go shopping for homes of -- this one looks interesting.

Hmm, methinks my 1980 era tires are no longer good. I was wondering why stuff stopped rolling smoothly.

Something trying to pop out elsewhere on the other tube

Vaccine reaction so far on this latest dose: extremely mild soreness at injection site, only if I push very hard on the injection site. Had mild stuffy nose for about 1/2 hour last night, but gone now. Sadly, still am not able to magnetically levitate cars or stick spoons to my forehead.

After a thorough inside and outside audit with my thermal camera (FLIR), things look pretty good for my thermal envelope. (did not check the attic, however). Interestingly enough, the most obvious heat loss (aside from a wall panel and roof area missing insulation) is along the bottom of the building slab.

Oh crap... a retired couple I know from church appears to have BOTH succumbed to -- died in their home. This is no joke, folks.

I lean strongly towards being an introvert, I am not very social, and I never go to parties (not even BEFORE the pandemic), so it amused me greatly to borrow this book from the library. I am 100% sure I will increase my knowledge in this area significantly beyond zero.

Checked off the list. Hauled a bunch of books home via cargo rack (lesson: pack a canvas bag in the backpack).

ai6yr, to philosophy

Someone stuck a "trash bin cleaning service" ad on my trash can today. I used to wonder "who cares what someone's trash can smells like--it's a TRASH CAN!" until talking to all of my relatives over the age of 65.

Interesting series of images from missing woman up on Mt. Baldy. At least they know her possible intended routes. #SearchAndRescue #SAR #Missing #MtBaldy

Hmm, "borrowed" a DVD I wanted to watch from a Little Free Library I was walking by with the dog today. (the LA Times just called them a "sign of gentrification" -- although, arguably, this neighborhood was already, by definition, gentrified).

LA Times: Despite H5N1 bird flu outbreaks in dairy cattle, raw milk enthusiasts are uncowed https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2024-05-12/raw-milk-enthusiasts-uncowed-by-bird-flu-risk-in-dairy

Big box home improvement retailer here is massively out of sync with the planting season.

Rows of pepper plants, out of season.

Achievement unlocked. Bicycled to the store and back. Didn't actually buy anything, but did figure out the dicey parts of the route (single lane, bicycle lane with no separation from fast traffic, no alternate routing).

Look what was behind my fridge, LOL.

Guess what? Any plastic marked with this symbol (for "recyclable") is not, in fact, recyclable. & stands for "OTHER" aka "everything else", and despite having a "recyclable" symbol in it, is not actually recyclable.

DNS mystery. No DNS is able to resolve journa.host (one of the Mastodon instances here). Shows up okay on whois, but fails on nslookup. #NSLOOKUP #DNS (Last update: they had a DNS issue and it took awhile for them to figure it out, fixed now)

Bought some from the farmer's market today. Now how to cook them for dinner. 🤔 (notably, missing sauerkraut and beer anywhere in the house.)

It appears people no longer know how to operate one of these. Absolutely no one knows what it is anymore (probably for the last 5 years).

LA Times: These are the California cities where $150,000 still buys you a home. Would you live here? "...For the last 30 years, Ann Epperly has lived in Trona, one of only nine California cities, towns and unincorporated areas tracked by Zillow with median home values under $150,000 in February 2024." https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-04-24/california-9-cities-where-150-000-can-buy-an-average-home
