I'm trans, former US military, a current college student, and a huge fan of making music and local activism. I'm almost 30, but HRT is making me visibly age in reverse.

I'm looking for new friends! I'm actively looking for late-20s (and beyond) trans friends who want to talk about stuff other than being trans sometimes.

I unfollow people who abuse (or refuse to use) the content warning system. If you're posting because you're upset, you need a CW. If you use the CW system as part of your joke (a warning like "what" is NEVER a useful warning), then you get an unfollow.

really cool to see tangara's bluetooth go from "i guess we need it... hopefully it's not too janky" to just straight-up being the main way i use the device.

genuinely makes me wonder how much of my previous writing off of bluetooth audio is attributable to shit software

    For what it's worth, my doctor told me that if you're not completely suppressing your T level, you can expect hormonal regrowth (beard, body hair, etc.)

    I kept getting regrowth until I upped my spiro dose again!

    I have a professor who today went on a 2 hour and 38 minute rant about Palestinians. This is not the first time, and I recorded the whole thing.

    A lot of horrible, counterfactual, and ahistoric stuff was said, but the crux of it was this:

    "A lot of them [the Palestinians living in Gaza] worked in those very same settlements that they destroyed. They would they were gardeners. They were they were construction workers. They knew the people, they massacred, they worked with them. They said hello to them every day. We're not dealing with human beings."

    He claims that his boss (the dean of his department) gave him the go ahead to derail our film appreciation class. Aside from the official channels at my school, does anyone know anyone that can help? Journalists, Lawyers practicing in California, or anyone else?

    I will NOT defend SCOTUS, they've been terrible for their entire history - but then agreeing to hear this case is a good thing, NOT a bad thing. Refusing to hear the case would mean the Texas 5th circuit decision becomes law - hearing the case means that there may be some future for eased access.

    PSA for U.S. based people who are noise sensitive:

    The DOT has an interactive map that shows various transportation noise levels for any area in the U.S.

    It's imperfect: anyone who lives in LA can tell you that the dark gray areas are NOT actually < 50db, but if you're planning on moving to an area, it can help you figure out airport and train noise, which can be very difficult for noise sensitive people to live with.

    I came out to my only Christian friend, a military buddy that I went through extreme abuse with. He gave me the "I love you, and nothing will change, but I can't accept being trans" and "sure being gay or trans is living in sin, but did I ever claim I don't live in sin?"

    I told him I deserve to be completely accepted by my friends.

    I can't help but feel that I was in the wrong. BRB gonna go cry my eyes out.

    Has anyone tried the Loop brand earplugs? Especially the new ones that switch between three different volumes? I'm considering them, but they're expensive and I'm curious about people's experiences. Right now I'm leaning on the fact that I can return them if I don't like them.

    I've tried many just like the loop ones, and find that earplugs that claim to have multiple volume blocking levels never work very well.

    This is an unpopular opinion, but as someone who's had to wear earplugs professionally for years: the cheap compressible foam earplugs work much better, and are way more comfortable! It's just really important that you know how to properly insert them - they go wayyyy further into your ear than you would think.

    I'm beginning to worry that long term romantic relationships that started pre-transition are doomed to fail. Some of the transfemmes that I held up as proof that transition doesn't have to cause relationship issues look like their relationships are quietly fizzling out. Wedding rings are disappearing, and the text "in a happy relationship" is quietly just disappearing.

    If your relationship survived your transition several years later (or not!), would you mind replying here or DMing me? I feel like it would be helpful to know what helped couples survive (or fail to survive) the massive re-defining of the self.

    After having looked at a lot of alt-right material on social and meme media bein promoted in the last year i am sure that this is not random but well orchestrated.

    I am looking for material on how the alt-right propaganda is produced and how it works.

    Does anyone here have anything on that?

    Especially interesting would be good docuemtation how its produced including ideally proof of the sources.

    I am rather sure there are people being paid to create media and memes promoting alt-right and decompose media opposing that. I am sure People being paid to write tooling there.

    This is not a bunch of incels, this is orchestrated software doing the job there.

    I recently watched a few videos by some left types on YouTube that tackled this specific issue. I know that YouTube is not considered academically rigorous, but I'm happy to send them your way if you're interested.

    The TL;DR is that the same people funding Fox News in the US appear to be funding the indie alt-right stuff - PraegerU is heavily funded by fascist oil billionaires, for example.
