@J_aa_p @MelodIetje bepaalde groepen mensen lopen inderdaad minder risico. Misschien denk je dat jij tot die groep behoort. Tijd voor onderlinge solidariteit. Ipv " nou laat het ze maar eens proberen". Dat schaadt jou en mij mss minimaal, maar andere mensen zijn nu al "de doelgroep" zakmarzegge. En IEDEREEN gaat tot de doelgroep behoren. Zo werkt fascisme nu eenmaal.

@J_aa_p @MelodIetje het is heel legitiem je te onttrekken aan een staatsapparaat dat je vervolging en dood op het oog heeft. Ik zou zeggen dat het er juist om gaat het fascisme te overleven en te ondermijnen. Gezamenlijk. Ik zie weinig onderlinge linkse solidariteit en gemeenschappelijke, praktische structuren. Die zullen we nodig hebben. Ik denk dat XR daar nog het meest mee gevorderd is.

@J_aa_p @MelodIetje Net als in Nazi Duitsland. Daar werd de NSDAP in feite door de sociaal democraten in het zadel geholpen. ( ik ben op de aanloop naar de fascistische machtsovername gepromoveerd, vooral op de mechanismen rond kolonialisme, antropologie en seksuologie., vandaar mijn bitterheid. Het patroon was me al snel duidelijk en de uitkomst liet zich voorspellen. Dat deden mensen ook. Maar die werden weggehoond als alarmistisch

My home country, the Netherlands, finally made it to the finals of again, only to be disqualified due to the artist supposedly being inappropriate towards a female ESC production crew member after the Thursday semi-final that resulted in an official case at the Swedish authorities. No more details available ATM, except rumours. I wish the EBU had similar strict rules to disqualify countries that behave in inappropriate ways too.

CNN spoke to three Israeli whistleblowers who worked at the Sde Teiman desert camp, which holds Palestinians detained during Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

All spoke out at risk of legal repercussions and reprisals from groups supportive of Israel’s hardline policies in Gaza.

“They stripped them down of anything that resembles human beings,” said one whistleblower, who worked as a medic at the facility’s field hospital.

@Oeneus Maybe I should have stated in the first sentence that I'm Dutch-Jewish and the child of Shoah survivors (my parents, and my grandparents who were all the sole survivors of their respective families) My grandparents got invited to move to Israel after the war. They refused, because they felt Dutch, not Israeli. Maybe this clarifies it a little.

    @DrALJONES Camps should have realised he was part of Israel's plan to disable UNRWA. Why did he think Israel let OA and WCK move that bit of "aid¨ ashore? They built the bit of embankment for the landing with rubble from north Gaza with the human remains still in it. WCK put their cooks in huge danger. For some celebrity minutes.

    @DrALJONES Yes. And you can have that evidence too, by just following the reporting on this. I worked as a cook on NGO ships in the Mediterranean, and in Calais and in Paris-St Denis. OA and WCK were useful idiots, and the WCK crew paid the price.

    Jonathan Glazer's "The Zone of Interest" is one of the most horrifying films I've ever seen, and a radical breakthrough in the use of sound design. The banality of Nazism also couldn't be more currently relevant (Thomas Flight is right: It would be an utterly different film with the sound off.)

    @stevesilberman The sound design is a marvel. In Indian aesthetics there's a name for this experience: Bhayānaka rasa, the horror-essence. I was very much taken aback by it, although I was prepared. And it was clear that it was a completely different film for me and for my partner.
