Ah yes, I see itโ€™s time for the people in shorts to kick the ball again, as hundreds of people who have seemingly lost all politeness and semblance of being human beings shout, scream, and ยซ sing ยป in the streets and take up every single cm of the walkways with their cars.

I canโ€™t wait to move so Iโ€™m no longer close to the f**king stadium. I hate football and football supporters so much, it turns into irrational anger.

@thelinuxEXP
Overheard in a huge group of football fans on a train:
"Well yeah we lost that game last month in Mรผnchen but this is gonna be so fucking good."
No you didn't. You didn't play, just drank beers and shouted.

My working theory is that people tend to think the "good" version of Windows is the N-1 one from today's

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@Techaltar no one really wanted windows 8 or Vista back, probably not many will want 11 back. it's like the cycle you described in some video

jon, to Vivaldi
@jon@vivaldi.net avatar

If you used M2 in Opera and enjoyed it, you really should be using Vivaldi Mail (M3).

If you have never used M2 or M3, maybe it is time to give it a try?

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@jon Integrated mail is a great idea but Vivaldi Mail has a weird, sometimes confusing layout. + Why does it treat RSS feeds as emails?

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@jon I've tried using Vivaldi Mail for a while, but found it harder to navigate than Mailspring or Nextcloud Mail or Merkuro Mail. Maybe I haven't been using it long enough then

It's interesting that with being acquired by users respond with their hope that it doesn't now enshitify.

And I kind of feel: People know. They know that these companies are unsafe stewards of their work tools. But invest in that system regardless.

Not sure how to convince people to invest in open source instead so this kind of thing can't happen. Not just hope won't, but structurally can't happen.

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@guenther @doctormo what's wrong with Audacity?
It's still free, they just have some addons

I underestimated the work ๐Ÿ˜… there are a lot of issues in the Plasma System Settings, this will probably take a few days

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@mirkobrombin small tip, you can enable blur in a VM too, it's just off by default

NEW: WhatsApp will soon make it possible to chat with people who use other messaging apps. It's revealed some more details on how that will work.

โ€” Apps will need to sign an agreement with Meta, then connect to its servers.
โ€” Meta wants people to use the Signal Protocol, but also says other encryption protocols can be used if they can meet WhatsApp's standards
โ€” WhatsApp has been testing with Matrix in recent months, although nothing is agreed yet. Swiss app Threema says it won't become interoperable

@claudius @mattburgess Would you prefer if they stayed closed down?

Why does a browser in not know when you're typing in the URL field, and so proceeds to automatically add a space after a period?

That's pretty basic, you'd think they could figure out how to suppress that.

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

isn't the keyboard app doin that @ottaross ?

You asked for it and we delivered!

Vivaldi Social just got updated with your highly-requested Translation and fresh themes.

To help you cross language barriers, Vivaldi Social now uses the freshly updated translation service powered by Lingvanex, a service you might be familiar with if you use our .

Weโ€™re excited to bring you these new experiences and look forward to bringing you more updates in the future. Check out the blog to learn more and how to can enable the changes: https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-social-latest-update-built-in-translate-and-themes

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@Vivaldi I love your translation feature, but tbh Lingvanex is far from the best.
Have you considered using m2m100 or something similar (as a second option in settings)?

If you could ask anything about the fediverse, ActivityPub, Mastodon, Threads, etc., what would it be? Let me know and I will try to include some in the video ๐Ÿ‘‡

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@Techaltar What else can fedi do with extremist or illegal instances? Gab & co. got a bit of a headstart thanks to Mastodon unfortunately.

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@abcxyz @Techaltar I know... and it's just thinking out loud if anything cool is worth doing if it also enables a large 'other network' of hateful instances

pyrex, to threads

Stop Using Threads consumes a list of users and tells you which of those users interact with Threads. You can use it to remove Threads participants from your timeline.

You can find out the tool's opinion on you by entering your own name, or you can just Submit with default settings to find out about Gargron.

https://stop-using-threads.net/

Data practices, anti-abuse and opt-in/out are behind the link. If you didn't opt into search, you're not visible here either.

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@pyrex I don't see how publicly shaming people is a good thing here

aronkvh,
@aronkvh@mograph.social avatar

@pyrex I get the concerns and other reasons, but it's still public shaming people who you don't agree with.
"interacting with Threads is a source of public shame and the campaign is succeeding."
