I’m getting real “Linux on the desktop guy” vibes from the Fediverse.
Now if you don’t mind me, I’m going to edit the DNS settings of the TXT record to my domain so I can insert the proper DID value in order to make my #Bluesky handle just so.
Wired says #Bluesky is the space for “the Internet elite”.
So what they’re saying is that #Bluesky is for status seekers and clout chasers.
You know, the spot for media gatekeepers to pad their articles with social media posts that say something to the effect of, “This!” and “This!” and “You, sir, just won the Internet!”
I don’t want journalism to be taken over by AI, but the task of compiling tweets for reactionary takes on whatever scandal could totally be done with AI—and that would be a big improvement.
All these tools are critical to the future of the Fediverse.
In particular, #Pixelfed will be released on iOS and Android by the end of the month -- which will give people who use #Instagram an easy way to migrate to the Fediverse.
Dan does a lot! Let's show him appreciation and love!
@jlogancarey@atomicpoet no worries, Nietzsche is infamously attributed with saying "God is dead," the implication being that we can make our own meaning.
Again, I have to re-iterate this: https://calckey.social registrations are closed today.
Nor am I giving away invitation codes.
I know there's lots of demand, but we've been crushed by an on rush of registration requests over the past few days -- and we need to ensure a better experience for current https://calckey.social users.
In the meantime, here's a list of other #Calckey servers:
@atomicpoet This has been an eventful week on Calckey. Social:
I broke some things testing the post import feature,
the user base grew over 50 percent,
the server had scaling/performance issues,
and we're still dealing with the fallout from the spam incident this morning...
So, slowing things down while we clean up and get the system stabilized just makes sense. As @atomicpoet mentioned, there are quite a few other Calckey instances available for new signups.
@atomicpoet I'd consider myself the crypto community (whatever that means) and I'm right here on Mastodon.
I'm just not replying "you don't understand" to every crypto criticism, nor bootlicking the birdsite man, so nobody notices.
For Reddit alternatives on the Fediverse, I prefer #kbin over #Lemmy. Here's why:
Navigation: The top navbar on /kbin seems clear and precise, while Lemmy seems noisy
Posts: There's clear separation in /kbin with boxes, while Lemmy posts are not segmented and therefore bleed into each other.
Discoverability: Even though /kbin is used by drastically fewer people than Lemmy, it seems easier to find people across the Fediverse who discuss topics
@atomicpoet
Both do a thing that Mastodon also does, which is to not underline links - it makes them harder to see, degrades user experience for - well, everyone, but especially low vision users & people with certain cognitive/perceptual issues. (E.g. I find it challenging when I have a migraine, which is often, or when my eyesight is glitchy - also often.)
Misskey turns their off by default (you can easily turn it on within settings) & Mastodon requires you to implement the #ElasticSearch code on your instance. I use search on both of my solo instances.
Misskey does not have an official app, but #MissRirica replicates most (if not all) of the options on the web interface (something most official apps on other platforms can not do yet).
