I think that Fossil Fuels $'s are only 50% of the problem. A culture war is really all the Republicans have, so they waging them on all fronts. Even where no money is flowing.
The money I guess, just motives them harder.

So the RTA's own modelling showed the Rozelle Interchange would be a traffic disaster—but generating more toll road trips for Transurban was more important.

"The [NSW Roads and Traffic Authority] finalised the first business case for the WestConnex tunnel project in June 2013, with the help of road designers from around the world.

"[Paul Forward, a former CEO of the RTA] said the initial concept did not include the Rozelle Interchange.

"In 2016, Transport for NSW updated the business case a second time ... creating a tunnel linking the Iron Cove Bridge to the Anzac Bridge."

The bottom line is pretty much every place is different, so there is no single way. You just have to start asking around. What you might want to do is if find other like-minded people locally. See if there is a Srong Towns movement or Safe Streets group in your city.

It absolutely baffles me why all these journalists are still there.
Comments like "hardly anyone is on Mastodon" is BS. Do you have to wait for "other people" before you do the right thing?
There are lots of tactical ways you can switch. Start by linking to Mastodon posts and turning comments on Twitter off.
I feel like we are at that MLK moment, with social media and journalism. More devoted to follower numbers than free speech and social justice.

I've said from the beginning...
Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter was ALWAYS about suppressing free speech from people with views he doesn't like and amplifying the speech (often lies, hate speech, and fearmongering)
Obviously you only need to look at Twitter now to see that was 100% true.

This is part of my mother's garden. We are expecting three days in a row of 39 degrees maximum and minimum overnight temperatures of 25 degrees. The maple tree in the corner is starting to look stressed after weeks of no rain. This morning I put the hose under it for some time to give it a good, long soak.

In front is a path that my brother spent all week making for our mother using Dromana sands and coreten steel for edging. We are delighted with the job he has done.
