Granddad with adult son who is neurodivergent with Downs and shares name with his nephew. Both are treasures. Partner Bob, agrees. Know insurrection when we see it. Woke Again Christian fed up with organized religion exerting control over politics & capitalist system putting profit of rich over health of planet & basic needs of underprivileged Americans. Found another fossil on the walk today with Sam & Mario. Sam was unimpressed. I found a fossil at Hubbard Park down in the stream once before, a contusion. This one was on higher ground. It was smooth on the top and I picked it up to look underneath and there it was.

Here’s another rock with a smooth top but in the underside was this peanut brittle like texture. Or maybe a Nature Stone garage floor.

Sam and his dad hit the trails again at Hubbard Valley Park walking around the water retention lake and over the dam. There is a nice forrest trail on the other side of the water.

I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift all this week.

I do honestly think the young lady has massive talent, and I can understand why some people are calling her the voice of her generation.

For us Gen-X people, she’s as influential to her generation as Madonna, MJ, and Prince were to us.

Here’s the real Taylor. The one who lives on Martha’s Vineyard where my family vacationed growing up alternating years with coastal Ogunquit in Southern Maine. The water’s warmer on the vineyard.

We soon learned there was a Rubber Ducky race along the stream in 20 minutes. So we hung around since Sam is a huge Sesame Street and Rbber Ducky fan. You can tell how pleased Sam is from his picture at the event.

Sam chose Rubber Ducky which we thought was a good investment for the fundraiser. was the winner.
A smiling Sam very pleased to be at the Rubber Ducky race.
The stream was running slow so Sam had plenty of time to enjoy the ducks.

Some pics from yesterday in a walk with Sam at the museum at Rogues Hollow in Doylestown. The Hollow is a geologically sunken area through rocky terrain with a stream going through. The vegetation is dense so little sun gets through and it feels more like a rain forrest. Then we discovered more.

A contour map of the the Rogues Hollow area.
The trails aren’t long but they’re fun and different.

On the return walk home I cut through the new disc golf course. More and more disc golfers are showing up so apparently the upgraded course is a hit. Most of them are decked out like serious golfers with large bags and carts. The course will be even better next year as nature fills in around.

Sam and dad went to get a ride in the rail cars in Rittman but it was raining and we we went on an umbrella walk instead doing a loop through downtown and back. Sam’s not a very patient waiter. Even though it said we had a very low chance of rain we got hit twice where we had to seek shelter under porches because the wind pushed the rain under the umbrellas.

I'm not trying to vilify all here, just the ones with illegal license plate covers or missing front plate or who roll past the stop sign and half into the bike lane before looking, or those who are driving 5-10mph over the already egregious posted speed, or the ones who park in bike lanes and on sidewalks and honk too much and impatiently ride my tail while there's a fresh red light in front of me or those assholes who drive in the curb lane of an ODOT stroad when the left lane is open.

There’s sloppier things one can do with a car. My mom backed into a cop car earlier today and she wasn’t even in the vehicle.

Just like Deja vu! On my previous visit, I arrived early morning at Leonabelle Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas, and shortly after a beautiful Green Heron landed on the handrail of the boardwalk. And the same thing this early June morning. It stretched its neck and gave a softer call than the normally harsh Kuk Kuk Kuk so perhaps calling its mate.

It’s not the same, but I’ve got a blue heron. I also have a blue heron flying in front of the sun but, sadly, it must be saved on laptop by now. We see blue herons in Akron all the time, they nest in fhe Cuyahoga Valley National Forrest and surrounding areas.

I walked in Holmes Brook Park and decided to take the creek up to the highway (there’s a scary tunnel under the highway that I’ve never been brave enough to spillunk so that’s the turnaround point). But the beach rocks on the creek soon gave way to mud and poison ivy on the shore. So I was forced back up hill where I had to cross the mountain goat path again but made it (a six inch path with 30 foot drop below - we don’t have mountain goats in N.E. Ohio).

After a while the easy hiking along the stream got harder with mud and poison ivy on the shore
An easier part of the walk along Holes Brooke.
Heading up to hike back on top of the hill.
