As long as we continue to stuff the pockets of the already ridiculously wealthy? Probably. YMMV.

If I ever would got the chance to redo my education, I would probably pursue a degree in North Korean Studies.

That would be a very interesting subject! In HS (1970s), I considered becoming an expert in Russian literature. Kinda glad I picked music (Horn performance) instead now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Two advanced groups of Ukrainian pilots are currently stationed in Denmark and the United States, where they are honing their skills on the F-16 aircraft. Air Force spokesperson Ilia Yevlash revealed during a telethon that another group is undergoing ground training in England, with a focus on language study. Proficiency in English is crucial for operating foreign-made aircraft effectively.

Canโ€™t wait to see Ukrainian pilots using these in combat. Letโ€™s see if Russian warplanes are of better quality, and better maintained, than Russian tanks? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

One thing that I really like about the Debian installer (as user-unfriendly as can be) is the option for which desktop environment(s) to install.

I do like KDE Plasma and ran it for a while, but there are still things that are a bit rough around the edges with certain graphics adapters and Wayland that kept it from it being my current DE of choice.

I would like to see both GNOME and KDE Editions of Fedora Workstation being published and promoted equally rather than the latter usurping the former for a single Fedora Workstation edition.

I always choose Advanced options -> Expert install. Super easy, and super fast.

chessert,
@chessert@mastodon.online avatar

@qlp Fair enough: Iโ€™m a very long-time Linux user.

chessert,
@chessert@mastodon.online avatar

@qlp
I used to follow BSD just as closely as Linux, esp. OpenBSD. Did several lab installs, but never deployed it in production.

chessert,
@chessert@mastodon.online avatar

@qlp
I did the opposite in the same time period, managing RedHat servers but experimenting with BSD. My personal computers at the time ran Mandrake Linux. In 2009 I started managing CentOS servers, but when major upgrades became cumbersome (had to take the server offline, add the new .iso image, do a full install, and hopefully bring everything back up) we switched to Debian (at my insistence). Reliability and sure maintenance > latest/greatest IMHO. ๐Ÿ™‚

chessert,
@chessert@mastodon.online avatar

@qlp
I was always seeking the most efficient way to accomplish tasks, with the minimal hardware requirements (because, budget). Used to build custom Linux kernels for the same reason, and security: strip out everything (drivers, protocols, libraries, etc.) not needed for the specific job.

You are Entangled with someone, you'll see them throughout your life. You are connected in some way that always brings you back to this person. There's a good chance you don't like each other at all.

Even the Financial Times is turning against the smart home.

โ€œAfter thinking it through, perhaps more people will come to the conclusion that dumb homes are the smart choice after all.โ€

IoT in the home never made sense to me. I don't want or need appliances that are in constant communication. I can still operate my light switches, thermostats, etc. just fine by hand. And that really does not take-up a lot of my day. YMMV?

.@Chipotle spent $1M to block a law raising the wage for its workersโ€”and failed.

Now theyโ€™re blaming minimum wage workers for rising food prices. Meanwhile Chipotle paid:
โ€ข$15M fine for wage theft
โ€ข$25M federal fine for food poisoning
โ€ข$38M CEO Salary
โ€ข$100M on moving its HQ

Got $200M in corp tax cuts & has $38B market cap
