Last night after feeling frustrated about the reinvention of cable I loaded up the ol’ pirate ship and downloaded a season of perfectly legal Blender open movies. Popped them into my “Videos” folder, turned on media sharing with a single switch in System Settings on elementary OS, and then became my own streaming service with VLC on my Apple TV. I didn’t have to install or tweak anything. No terminal. No plugins. It all just works out of the box. Year of the Linux desktop etc

This made me incredibly sad (for kids that lack basic food security - to the point they’d rather skip spring break than miss snacks), angry (at our do nothing politicians) and happy (that there are people like @Saltssaltgirl stepping up and showing love and kindness to kids who need it).

Because some people were complaining about the lack of privacy policies for my apps, I'm tempted to create one that will just say "I don't collect any data from you, or track what you're doing in my apps".

That's literally all there is to it. None of my apps have any tracking in them at all.

I found an issue where you can’t post just a gif in response to a “content warning” post without including at least one text letter in the test field. Doesn’t exhibit this on non-CW posts (or previous versions). Do you need me to post this somewhere.

I run a single user #Mastodon server.

Dealing with this annoying AF #spam the right way is killing me.

I have to report the post, select spam. Select (one at a time) each of the 30 other identical posts and then submit and block.

Then I have to navigate to moderation and suspend that account. In itself a 10 - 20 second multi click operation.

I'm getting new spam from unsuspended remote users at least once every 20 minutes.
