Israel doesn't have "marriage" as a civil institution the way that Europeans developed it.
It isn't that their civil marriages are administered by a religious authority, as you are equating with past European laws (I assume based on bad information somebody gave you), but that Israel simply doesn't have civil marriages.
Their marriages are determined by religious authorities in the exact same way as I signed my Ketubah here, which is just a separate activity from state involvement in marriage at all.
Whoever described it to you as being similar to religious officials determining who qualifies as being in a union did you a disservice which ended in you being less informed than before.

One of the striking things about the #tiktok ban is it makes certain type of source code, even #opensource, effectively illegal. Aside from intellectual property law, source code has never been made illegal. The bill specifically says it is illegal to "distribute, maintain, or update" TikTok source code and it is also illegal for an "internet hosting service" to enable such actions. #TikTokBan#usa

I'm not a lawyer and to me the bill's text is ambiguous because it doesn't clarify if the source code should be specific to the "application", or any source code that is used by the application to function.
