The cat was helping me inmy attempts to find a lipstick color that doesnโt look horrible.
So far iโve learned that pinks looks just as terrible as expected, purpleish things look pink, and that cheap lipstick feels like attempting to do your lips with Crayola Crayons.
๐คMaybe i should just get black and call it a day. Black goes with everything right? ๐
@masukomi take a trip to Sephora, seriously, they're great with trans people. And they can tell you everything you need to know about makeup, like what colors work with your skin, etc
Sociology professor Christopher T. Conner started looking into the QAnon movement four years ago, but his research soon broadened into all kinds of conspiracy theorists, from race scientists to New Age spiritualists. He writes for @TheConversationUS about why people are susceptible and how politicians and influential figures take advantage of them. Do you have conspiracy theorists in your life (if you don't know any, maybe it's you ๐)?
@CultureDesk@TheConversationUS@ConversationUS@arts I'm on the Internet, I'm exposed to thousands of conspiracy theorists what seems like daily. At least I avoid a large percentage of them by not exposing myself to reich wing people.
"I had a transthoracic echocardiogram on Monday 20-May, as a followup to my cardiac diagnostics. They wanted to check on that enlargement of the ascending aorta, as well as the aortic valve calcification. Short story: Everything is stable."
"Surprisingly, our results show that women's contributions tend to be accepted more often than men's. However, when a woman's gender is identifiable, they are rejected more often. Our results suggest that although women on GitHub may be more competent overall, bias against them exists nonetheless."
I've been monitoring the ups and downs of rebuilding subscriptions post-Amazon for the magazines that have been impacted. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that survival depends on us being more shameless. So...
@clarkesworld I wish I could. You and Kate have given me many hours of company on my drives. I'm out of work at the moment, but I'll subscribe when I'm employed again
Former President Donald Trump is now selling Bibles for $59.99, inscribed with the phrase "God Bless the USA" and accompanied by copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. But he's not the first U.S. ex-president to sell Bibles for his own purposes. After leaving office, Thomas Jefferson put together "The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazarethโ which was a private exercise undertaken to make sense of Jesus's teachings. The Miami Herald contrasts the two books, saying of Trump's Bible: โThe use of flag imagery and political texts in conjunction with the bible suggests a dangerous politicization of Christianity and religion more broadly โ the exact phenomenon that Jefferson feared.โ
New York Judge Merchan imposed a gag order on Tuesday that prohibits #Trump from attacking witnesses, prosecutors and jurors, the latest effort to rein in the former presidentโs wrathful rhetoric about his legal opponents.
The judge imposed the order at the request of the Manhattan district attorneyโs office, which brought the case against Trump.
