What do we all call those people you try to have a conversation with and they just ignore everything you say and propose a counter / one-up point of discussion?

I’m neurodivergent… it’s not like with Autistics telling you something because we’re excited to share. Not that at all.

Someone help me with how to handle said personality trait. TY. 🙃

We finally got the bbq fixed today and can grill again! We have a little Weber Q.

I decided to make some classic bbq chicken breasts. Nom nom nom. 👩🏻‍🍳

Served them with grilled zucchini and a baked potato.

I love grilling season!☀️🎉

Maybe I should let my hair grow out a little bit and get away from the side part swoop?

My hair is very thin and fine (especially on the sides above my ears and front) … so I still want to be able to do a close buzz/fade on the sides.

Made it out of my lair for the first time since I got sick over a week ago - just down to the mailbox and back. Ran into a friendly neighbor on the way and got up the nerve to ask them to take a load of backlog kitchen trash to the dumpster for me. I still get so awkward and embarrassed about asking for help and revealing my household chaos, so this was big for me. Anyway: continued signs of progress as I return to equilibrium.

So… am I the only one that uses Mastodon with blinders up to the grand concept of the ?

I acknowledge it exists, I like the idea, but… it doesn’t really affect me? I don’t really understand why people feel the need to explain the concept to newcomers, and risk potentially turning them off. People these days need a 5-second sell on things.

I just see Mastodon as a mostly similar, slightly different, successor to Twitter. No reason why it can’t be explained that way.

@tashen IMO it would be challenging for a newcomer to figure out which server to join without explaining to them the concept of there being different servers - and IMO picking a simpatico server is important to having a positive Fediverse experience. So maybe newbies don't need a dissertation on Fedi but IMO they at least need to know some basics.

There have been forest fires causing these unhealthy red skies all over the western half of North America for a long, long time.

I’ve experienced them for the last 18 years in California, British Columbia and now in Alberta. It is always unsettling and brings pause.

@britt Yep. I was living in San Diego during the Cedar Fire in 2003. When I relocated to Western Oregon in 2011 I was definitely conscious already of being a climate refugee The fires the past few years here in the PNW are definitely adding to my now ever-present lowkey fear-and-loathing mood. My new was delivered this week and I’m absolutely over the moon

To have something that was custom measured and designed for my body makes a huge difference… this has been nearly a year in the making! ♿️

  1. easier to push, so less fatigue and more mobility
  2. feels like an extension of my body.
  3. builds confidence in my wheelchair skills.

When you really need some help with stuff around the apartment due to chronic fatigue crap, but the whole process of asking friends for help and dealing with their tardiness, unpredictability, and unexpected vibes exhausts you due to neurodivergence crap - and then feeling guilty over your reaction exhausts you the rest of the way. 🙄

I think one of the toughest parts about summer for me is that my body wakes up with the sun. I mean… like… even the smallest bit of sun light anywhere 😆

I write to you at 8 minutes past official ‘sunrise’ on the west coast.

It’s been a lifelong battle to get myself to sleep in past sunrise in Canada and get a proper sleep.

And yes, I use black out blinds but they’re not perfect.

It's pretty damn disappointing to see half the staff at my regular pharmacy going unmasked, let alone the other patients and the rest of the store as a whole. At least the tech who gave me my COVID booster was masked. But damn, the cognitive dissonance of it all. Just trying to get through this still ongoing pandemic despite the disinformation without further screwing up the CrankyBod.
