I absolutely hate the term 'fedizens' and will never use it. I have seen people using 'mastonauts' for Mastodon users but also feel equally cringed by it. I was checking in on Nostr and they are calling their users 'nostriches' which is also awful. Bluesky people keep using 'skeeters' as a term for users there. I see we have some innate need to come up with these terms but can we try to be a bit more creative or something?

Sure, you can name a fediverse citizen a snorpflorp or something... But it'll probably only make sense to you.

Можно предложить выступление, можно поставить свой стенд. По крайней мере одно из выступлений там планируется удаленным, т.е. возможность должна быть.

You know what? This is pure conspirology by me, but hear me out.

What if, WHAT IF - there actually was nothing all that scary discussed in that meeting the other day?

What if the whole thing was actually a nothing burger set up specifically in such a way that would get us talking about it and make us paranoid?

I mean, it's high-level psyop play, but those fuckers know that we're cautious as shit about them, and they know that trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets, and nothing disrupts trust in FOSS like an NDA meeting. They know this shit like nobody's business, literally, infowar is their bread and butter. Ask 2016 US voters.

Either way, we don't know anything and this is precisely what scares us. The wisest we can do, is SHUT THE FUCK UP and watch. See what next moves will be or if somebody inevitably spills the actual beans.

And sure as shit don't harass anyone over this shit, fucking please!!!

There's a lot of shit flying in the lately and a lot of times perspective seems to get lost. Yes, there are things we need to talk about, and yes there are things we will not agree on. And that's okay.

But leave the pitchforks and torches out of this.

Fedi admins put in the hours and effort and emotion into making fedi happen. Sometimes they make decisions we might not agree with. We should criticize, but we should not pile-on.

ИМХО, держателям проектов в Fediverse (как разработчикам движков, так и держателям серверов) надо бы озаботиться юридическими канарейками, причем двух видов: одна - чувствительная к госаппарату, другая - к защищенным NDA корпоратам.

(это кстати касается и нас на mml. Посему, разыскиваются юристы-добровольцы!)

I think, all the "fediverse stakeholders" (both developers AND admins) should actually hold canary statements, of two species: one should be sensitive to the state meddling (police, courts, etc.) and the other should indicate corporate meddling. This is one effective and legal way to defeat NDAs and gag orders.

I think, this should be a feature built into the software even.

Paper Plane (formerly Telegrand) is a really nice #Telegram client. It still misses a lot of features of the official client, but if you're fine with that, it gives you really great native experience on #Linux. And it works great on phones, too!

You can find it in the beta channel on #Flathub.
