One of the more limiting things about Signal is you have to give out your mobile number to everyone. Even if it is a burner, I still don't want to advertise to the world that it's mine.

Was happy to read today that Signal is now beta testing a new username feature.

Thanks. Yes, that was a pretty inventive thing with the . Should be bolder.

We forgot we did this design until recently when we were scrolling through files in our uploaded folder. Its artistic but lacked boldness at a small size and we thought people would struggle to draw it.

The FOSSMARK idea we should have remembered to include on the later design (pictured). As we discussed with you we must drop the 3-triangle-hero, so will add FOSSMARK then :)

Latest "infinity triangle" (aka v3 simplified) version to replace the 3-triangle (complex) version. This one has the "organic" colouration (for muted colour palette sites) as opposed to the "party" colouration seen in the other three images, designed to compliment high-impact, high-contrast website designs.

We have a history of collab'ing with ideas here since Jan 2021, including w @smallcircles, DrQ FreedCreative @zleap. We recommend simple. 'Social Reimagined' was too abstracted.

We'd be tempted to say, An Ethical Decentralised Social Network, but M'don defaults to an algorithmic timeline now, Maybe just say "A not-so-centralised social network".

BTW Fedi has a major scaling issue. See tag, GlutPlug, for a fix.

It is, without a doubt, true that the is unsafe for a lot of marginalized groups in a variety of ways.

M'don is not much decentralised as many assume (see ). We just had a little rant about it.

We cannot protect fedizens, without protecting instances themselves. Adoption of I2P and/or at least proposals like to help decentralise will protect instances, but such discussions are nowhere.

We notice that the Mastodon icon is being used on your site, yes? Have you considered a Fediverse icon instead? Using a M'don icon misrepresents wider fediverse as M'don (now with previously rejected ). It misleads and invariably marginalises worthy instances that aren't M'don.

We don't know if our proposal is of interest here. Its for Fediverse so as fediverse scales instances don't have to shutdown due to overwhelming demands for content.

When a person boosts likes or replies to content they've downloaded they will also host it themselves for as long as it is in demand, over one of the three addresses provisioned for such. Server tells subsequent viewers to fetch content from these .

There's a lot of focus on to migration, but the overall story is quite a bit bigger I think.

The offers huge opportunity for independent journalism in a world where so much of media are consolidated and in the hands of shady mogul billionaires. In other words Fediverse is both a threat to existing business models, as well as market opportunity.

Can anyone find that person who was doing the banners for the legacy social?

We just realised, that they could overlay any image over the above using a multiply blend in the layering. Possibly could be combined with a washed out colourise effect on any photo too, they might be able to offer customised banners to people still on legacy social sites. :P

This instance is in a wind down phase and it seems we only have 2 days of past info available. :(

dsfgs,

No matter @realcaseyrollins @smallcircles @zleap . Found him.

Hi @BjornW see above, if still interested in the idea of banners, you could make bespoke banners as pictured. In GIMP we overlayed a jungle banner image with the above, duplicated as two layers, one layer is 'Multiply'-blended (90% opacity), the other is 'Screen'-blended (35% opacity).
