Why is qBittorrent using so much resources, when all it's doing is trying to download a few thing, without actually doing it? Transmission is also really resource hungry. Is there a good torrent client for Linux that isn't?
hey, if you're providing downloads for large files, please also provide a torrent (preferably with a proper webseed)
i know it's kinda fallen out of favor due to increasing internet speed and connotations with piracy, but it really is helpful for people with slower internet.
and also: providing a sha hash next to your download links can actually serve a purpose, namely if someone gets your file from an external service or mirror.
@lily Additionally, if you feel like going one step further, #I2P cross-seeding of #torrents is appreciated by the privacy-conscientious (some of us will otherwise make do with the slow download).
Has anyone used this? I haven't seen it recommended before in the typical arr stack and it seems like its infinitely more useful for those who are trying to easily maintain ratio on private trackers.
Some people say it's wrong to #torrent because it disincentivizes people from making new content, but all I want is to be able to find the content that's already been made!
#Xfinity caps your internet at like 1tb per month, so what I like to do is connect to my neighbors' "xfinitywifi" #hotspot (that they probably don't even know they are providing to everyone for free) and do my #torrenting from there because it doesn't count against my home internet cap! #piracy#pirating#torrent#torrents#protip#comcast
A lot of talk about certain VPNs ending port-forwarding and how this affects torrents, but some are making it seem as though it's impossible to torrent without port-forwarding. Anyone care to offer a clearer and pragmatic picture? (I torrent Linux distro iso files, of course...) #VPN#VPNs#torrents#torrent#torrenting#PortForwarding
