    Phase 3 of my mad has begun - sleeper from Naples to Milan.
    It is cheaper than a room for the night in Naples and lets me get a head start on tomorrow's trip to the UK. The only bad part is the blueish lighting which makes it look like a morgue.

    Diese ganzen Regelungen für Cannabis-Konsum, z.B. nicht in der Nähe von Schulen verkaufen, nicht in Gegenwart von Kindern und Jugendlichen konsumieren etc., können wir das für Zigaretten und Alkohol auch haben?

    @AdeptVeritatis @RolandRides @hanno Dir ist vermutlich leider der Witz entgangen. Ich glaube nicht, dass eine pauschale Differenzierung zwischen Gruppe und Individuum Sinn macht und Recht ist ausserdem auch nicht in Stein gemeisselt.

    Let me tell you a story about two railways in two large European countries

    In one, they’ve just completed the delivery of the biggest new fleet of high speed trains ever, and high speed trains run hourly on pretty much every line. Off peak tickets are cheap, and if you pay for a flexible ticket you can take any train.

    In this country regional trains run hourly, are cheap to take (there’s a cheap national monthly pass) and passenger numbers are steadily rising.

    @matrix I'm a bit perplex that you're planning to implement WhatsApp's proposed solution. WhatsApp is obviously trying to dictate the messaging protocol, so they have it simple and easy while everyone else needs to do the hard work. This gives them a massive advantage: They can make changes to their liking, iterate fast on a single protocol while everyone else needs to juggle two (potentially totally different) protocols, most likely with significantly less available resources. The more messenger solutions join in, the more likely it is that it will become the de facto interop standard.

    Whether you're a full on interop hardliner or have your doubts like me, I was hoping we would be united in one thing: WhatsApp's proposal can't possibly be in our interest.

    Kann Threema für eine Google/Apple-Push-ID eine Verknüpfung zu einem Threema-Konto herstellen? Wenn nicht, wie wird dies technisch verhindert oder umgesetzt?

    Und eine weitere wichtige Frage ist: Wie oft hat Threema bereits Push-IDs an Behörden vergeben? Wenn ja, um welche Informationen handelt es sich dabei genau?

    Bitte nicht auf Threema Libre oder Threema Push verweisen, da besteht das Problem nicht. Das ist bekannt.

    @jon This REALLY puzzled me on my Rhône bike tour. I did not see a single train passing through on the non-high-speed infrastructure but when we were next to the high-speed infrastructure, a train went through every few minutes.

    A good fleet of a few hundred 200km/h night train carriages that can run on any normal speed standard gauge line and be hauled by different locomotives depending where you run is good enough and can be built right away

    @jon Totally agree, we need quick solutions at the moment to satisfy the demand. I wanted to book a ticket from Zürich to Berlin but there's not a single day from January to the end of April I could get one for two adults and two bicycles. And booking tickets isn't even possible for May yet. That is absolutely insane.

    @kuketzblog Sorry, ich versteh's nicht. Es gibt so viel Chromium-basierte Browser. Du prüfst dann mit jedem Update, ob das Datensendeverhalten sich ändert, in der Hoffnung, dass sie keinen weiteren Schrott auf Basis ihres obskuren, nicht vertrauenswürdigen Businessmodells einbauen?

    Da scheint es mir deutlich schlauer, auf einen Browser zu setzen, der entweder wirklich frei ist oder wenigstens ein moralisch einwandfreies Businessmodell hat, auch wenn man dann vielleicht 2-3 Settings ändern muss.

    An observation:

    Many people seem to be under the impression that series hybrid drivetrains (where the ICE powerplant turns a generator which powers a motor) are superior to parallel hybrid (where the ICE can spin the wheels directly).

    I think a lot of this comes from knowledge of diesel-electric locomotives, and trains are known to be efficient. But, in fact, those trains would be even more efficient if they could parallelize the diesel engine - that's just really hard, and isn't the point.
