@eniko @larsmb Sounds more like a business policy or parental control or such. Seriously, anyone with some time can get into Desktop Linux, there are lots of low-threshold books, magazines, even YouTube channels and when you don’t want to ask in the interwebs for help, there are Linux groups in bigger cities. The only real factor is free time.

Es ist eigentlich gar nicht so schwer zu verstehen:

Xitter ist eine Faschoplattform geworden, das kann keiner beschönigen, man kann dort den Diskurs nicht mehr 'gewinnen'. Es ist vorbei und fast alle Medienschaffenden, die dort noch senden, können sich nur nicht von ihrer (scheinbaren) Reichweite trennen.

Bluesky wird mittelfristig eher nicht überleben können, Threads ist anti-politisch, was bleibt, ist das Fediverse. Das ist der Ort, an dem öffentlicher Diskurs stattfinden sollte.

Ein Killerfeature der Mastodon-Suche ist der Operator "in:library", damit durchsucht man alle seine gefavten und geboosterten Tröts, oder welche in den Lesezeichen. Das ging auf Twitter nicht!
Für eigene Tröts suche ich mit "Suchbegriff from:me".

just had a webpage try to display a video ad, but for some baffling reason they DRM'd the ad so my browser asked if I wanted to allow playback of DRM'd content and I just said no. amazing design, no notes.

Is it me, or is it a huge conflict of interest for corporate executives to be on the boards of other corporations? Things get especially complicated when they do cross-promotions or collaborations.

If I as a shareholder were paying an executive literally tens of millions of dollars per year, I think I’m justified to insist that they spend 100% of their professional attention on their one employer, and not on another, ostensibly unrelated corporation.

In other news: As a no-name individual contributor, I would be in breach of corporate code of conduct if I were to join the board of directors of an unrelated corporation, no matter how small. Why are executives exempt from this rule?

@nixCraft No, it is not. Everyone seems to misunderstand the situation: Only tabs you click on are loaded in your session, the others are just placeholder tabs in the UI without actual websites loaded. That’s why several thousand open tabs aren’t a problem at all.

Your themes not being compatible makes the programs using them look alien on other desktops. But GNOME just doesn’t care. KDE does! And the other way around too!

And what about people with sensory issues who cannot use themes anymore? Are they a collateral damage for GNOME for a hypothetical Apple-minded issue not really existing?
