Just pulled this shot and got nostalgic for coffee and linux, you and @schykle made such a great team. I don’t know when I would have time to do this, but it appears that coffeeandlinux domain is available, might pick that up and make it my brain dump for new found obsessions :)

@justforfun @schykle OK, that's a luscious looking shot of espresso.

And yea, I sincerely miss it as well. For me, the organic conversations are what rocked.

If you end up with that domain, do it justice :D

Finally restored my 5th gen, inspired by @killyourfm

Went all black with the case. New screen and battery and a 64GB CF card for storage. Dumped my collection as FLACs on there to run through

I still adore this screenshot.

Also, some interesting @thunderbird trivia: In 2004, blazing fast internet access wasn't nearly as widespread as it is now, so Mozilla offered to send installation CD-ROMs to users for $5.95.

@manawyrm I still have vivid, painful memories of "huge" failed downloads back in the day. I totally forgot that some ISPs billed by the minute!

killyourfm,
@killyourfm@layer8.space avatar

@manawyrm I was over here using Limewire and Kazaa like a peasant. 😂

@theseal @thunderbird That is incredible!

@AngelaScholder @thunderbird A whole 1 Mbps download speed? Nice! In 2004 I think I had 256kbps down.

@radmin @thunderbird They felt ahead of their time back then (to me, anyway)

@DenJohn HAHA! Ok, I've been known to do that... but this time it was @communiteatime who runs the Thunderbird accounts alongside me.

The stunning reward at the end of this morning's Eaton Canyon hike with @linuxflower and the @thunderbird crew. Including very special guest @gloriouseggroll!

16 ice-cold stream crossings to get here, by the way! It was epic, and I enjoyed this adventure -- and the company -- very much.

AWESOME start to SCaLE.

@pink Hey awesome! Glad you enjoyed the hike!

@jnv it’s perfect. I’d argue it’s slightly better than the original!

Every recipe online: “Here's a quick and easy recipe for pancakes! But first, a few paragraphs about my personal life and family, followed by 12 paragraphs detailing my entire life history with this food.”

@serebit 100% agree :(

@ThePlant I feel like ultimately we can just blame google for this.

@bashfulrobot yea this came up in an earlier reply. It’s awesome! Already started an account and added a few recipes.

It’s happening!
(And now the hard part: patience)

Today I’m also putting some sweet potato slips and strawberry runners into the ground. Plus… well a ton of good stuff. Stay tuned!

A garden bed with a wooden label sign that reads "Buttercrunch Lettuce."
A garden bed with rich soil and a wooden plant label that reads "Rocky Arugula."

The other day I removed some poorly laid paving in the new garden.

Whilst forking it all over in preparation the thought struck me to turn the area into a large bed.

The seeds turned up earlier and have been sown. Now, to wait.

@thewinduppirate Awesome! Would love to see some photos of the space once they sprout and bloom.

The coolest #scale21x booth award -- and most genius donation method -- goes to NUCC (National Upcycled Computing Collective).

They took this soda machine and transformed it into a massive server from reclaimed and refurbished server racks. They even wrote a whole thing to do the transactions.

You stick dollar bills in, select which "flavor" you want, and it pops out a shell for you to access all weekend from the show.

(You can check out their projects at https://www.nuccinc.org/)

I've had time to reflect on my experience at and my takeaway is: I sincerely miss being "plugged in" to the community 24/7.

Tracking the amazing developments. Interviewing maintainers. Watching the joy as people discover all the cool corners of a distro they're trying for the 1st time. Having a platform like Forbes and YouTube to broadly share this stuff.

At SCaLE many people told me they miss @Linux4Everyone. I miss it too.

Just feeling conflicted and reflective today.

@killyourfm@layer8.space avatar

@mdiluz @Linux4Everyone People like us tend to have so many passions and life can't possibly accommodate them all.

The FOMO is real.

@ReverseModule @Linux4Everyone Thank you for saying that ❤️
