Really want to start working on designing a fediverse client app that has first class support for all the non microblogging stuff. I am not a programmer and I have no intention to start but I do have a mind filled with ideas I want to see in the world and an eye for design and UX/UI. I want it to be community guided from the beginning. If anyone has interest in colabing on a wireframe please @ me.

for the unconference at in Italy I wrote on a note card: "ACAB Protocol (funding?)"
It was a pun to talk about the Matrix situation and now I keep thinking about what an ACAB Protocol would look like. How do you design a system that those in positions of power want to avoid at all costs?

@raucao @mariusor But even anonymous donations can have large influence. The act of a donation in the first place has the potential effect of influencing one project to continue and another project to cease if the projects in question are reliant on donations.

@mariusor I don't think what is in my head needs to be incompatible with the GPL or the open source ethos at all if this is what you are concerned by. The issue I have is not with peoples ability to use code. I personally don't care who is USING said code. What I am concerned with is how the people making the decisions about protocols and standards are getting their funding. This is really on a different level then the code license issues though yes it is tangentially related.

@mariusor If I had to clarify everything I posted for maximum understanding I don't think I would be able to post anything at all. But if the things I post peak someones interest enough to respond I am always happy to try to clarify my ideas.

You think that there is a mechanism for funding to have zero influence over the thing it funds? If this is the case I would very much like to understand what that mechanism is and try to implement it in more projects...

@stefan I was just yesterday in a long thread about different approches to translating and traslitterating 'the fediverse' into Arabic with these fine folks: @ahmad, @sorrowbird, @ButterflyOfFire, and @dragnucs

I'm working on improving the @pixelfed app onboarding, and want your feedback on the new sign up flow.

Does this do a good job at conveying the choice of communities to join while providing an easy default instance to join?

This isn't final, I'd like to get a general positive consensus on this before moving forward.

I personally think this education can really only happen before people sign up. Especially for Pixelfed since it is not so much a place for discussions as it is for showcasing photos.

Wow, 7455 accounts on https://pixelfed.social have selected at least 1 pronoun, that's roughly 10% of all users!

I will be updating this feature to remove the predefined list of pronouns to allow for freeform input!

@evan oh damn I missed this poll! this question is interesting cause there is some leeway depending on definitions. I have 2 'open' piercings and 3 'closed' piercings. So I either have 2 or 5 depending on the definition of 'have'
