Sometimes the procedural generation delivers these interesting shapes.

I tried to imagine how a city would develop around this gulf, but couldn't resist adding houses on the peninsulas, despite limited access to workplaces.

What would you do instead?

GIF of an isometric city that has developed around a procedurally generated gulf. Steam trains and boats travel around delivering resources to industries.

@elmowilk wow, I thought the video looked cool so I went to wishlist it, turns out it was already 😄

With the release of Godot 4.2 one of the best new features is the addition of Blender style controls.

@Fluttermind I am on a podcast called Eggplant ( @eggplantshow ) where we talk to other game developers and get a little deep into the nitty gritty of making games and talk about process and stuff. We've had a lot of very cool and interesting indie devs on in the past — I'd really love to have you on and talk to you about moonring. Is that the kind of thing you might be interested in?

@helvetica @Fluttermind @eggplantshow this would be amazing

Realizing it's been a while since I talked about a thing, and it's just because I'm working on weird problems

Still making fun progress though! Finally figured out how to make a character movement component go FAST. Trying to make dodges feel better n stuff.

Moving a bird around my test environment and the strafing speed is maaaaybe a bit fast

@gamingonlinux it's quite fun, and running fine on fedora via steam for me. I'd like to play on steam deck too but sadly it doesn't have cloud saves.

Re-reading some game design books to figure out a way through my ongoing project reboot. I haven’t gotten along with most theory books, but these 3 continue to be invaluable. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in giving this silly trade a go.

That weighted training outfit thing from anime? It's actually a real thing with cars, especially if you rally, heh.

When I started making games I used a .txt file as a todo list, then I moved to Trello, after that I used Notion and now I'm back to .txt files. I crave simplicity.

nish,
@nish@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

@grumpygamer you might like https://taskwarrior.org/
It's a little more featured then a txt file, but still very lightweight

Some days I feel like I've forgotten more linear algebra than I remember. Anybody in recommend a good refresher / reference? Bonus points if it features simplifications for working in 2D space. I prefer book / written form but videos are good too.
