@maxleibman there is no AI, there is very expensive and wasteful code using LLM which apparently board is pushing down all engineer throats. So it is not even Google ruined Google. Board of directors of Google ruined Google.

@StillIRise1963 Yeah I found that focus on black people being doubtful about Biden a bit strange. He lost 7% at worst. Considering his limits on helping them, or not fully willing to do so, that's impressive.
White people. Yep. Get ignorant kids and thirty sometings out of their comfort zones, scare them, make them face reality. Because they are next.

@jynersolives I think worries about threads are still valid, but Fediverse is built to withstand some of that, and for some of other problems we will have to build tools.
Fact I can follow someone on Threads still feels amazing and I hope this sticks.

We've seen four episodes now of the "new new" and RTD's take/vision of this era and I have to say, with the exception of , I remain very much on the fence. It's too "magical" for my liking, it doesn't do a lot of sci-fi stuff or concepts. And it has the usual silliness dialed to 11 (or 12), all amplified by RTD's sledgehammer writing style. It's somewhat ok and at times interesting, even charming, but overall I still don't know if it's for me. Which is fine.

I don't understand CWing political posts. And that doesn't mean you need to @ me explaining why. I know THEIR reasons, I just disagree with them and won't do it.

I respect CWs for other things, but not politics. Politics is news and people need to be aware of what's happening. It's not gory or violent, it's politics.

@GottaLaff @peterainbow @nicolesandler filtering is excellent on Mastodon. Politics can be triggering, but I don't feel there is general consensus it should be CW. Also each instance and user abide their own rules :)

You get the impression from today's Tories (Sunak, Truss et al) that they don't really like Britain or its people very much. They regard the British people as lazy, "woke", workshy and ungrateful.

Hence all their talk about doing away with doctors' sick notes, discouraging work-from-home, "Singapore on the Thames" etc. They would much rather be governing an imaginary authoritarian country somewhere in Asia with zero workers rights.
