@maxleibman there is no AI, there is very expensive and wasteful code using LLM which apparently board is pushing down all engineer throats. So it is not even Google ruined Google. Board of directors of Google ruined Google.
With the 2024 election, Black people are not the people anyone needs to worry about. We’re not the idiots, we’re not the nazis. It’s white people. FOCUS.
@StillIRise1963 Yeah I found that focus on black people being doubtful about Biden a bit strange. He lost 7% at worst. Considering his limits on helping them, or not fully willing to do so, that's impressive.
White people. Yep. Get ignorant kids and thirty sometings out of their comfort zones, scare them, make them face reality. Because they are next.
@jynersolives I think worries about threads are still valid, but Fediverse is built to withstand some of that, and for some of other problems we will have to build tools.
Fact I can follow someone on Threads still feels amazing and I hope this sticks.
We've seen four episodes now of the "new new" #DoctorWho and RTD's take/vision of this era and I have to say, with the exception of #Boom, I remain very much on the fence. It's too "magical" for my liking, it doesn't do a lot of sci-fi stuff or concepts. And it has the usual silliness dialed to 11 (or 12), all amplified by RTD's sledgehammer writing style. It's somewhat ok and at times interesting, even charming, but overall I still don't know if it's for me. Which is fine.
@jynersolives I feel it is specially made to expand into USA, like first hook to reach younger audiences. And as you say, that is fine in general. Fact that Who can refresh and go on like this is remarkable.
This is a greally great and insightful interview with #StevenMoffat about #DoctorWho under RTD. The show is planned and shot a year head. We will never face the same situation with Chibnall again any time soon. So good news!
@jynersolives what happened with Chibnall? I know production struggled, but I never paid much attention. Also it was good to hear Steven is back writing Who.
FYI, someone just asked me, "Could you please put a CW on those US politics posts?"
I said no sorry,, just mute me.
I don't understand CWing political posts. And that doesn't mean you need to @ me explaining why. I know THEIR reasons, I just disagree with them and won't do it.
I respect CWs for other things, but not politics. Politics is news and people need to be aware of what's happening. It's not gory or violent, it's politics.
@GottaLaff@peterainbow@nicolesandler filtering is excellent on Mastodon. Politics can be triggering, but I don't feel there is general consensus it should be CW. Also each instance and user abide their own rules :)
You get the impression from today's Tories (Sunak, Truss et al) that they don't really like Britain or its people very much. They regard the British people as lazy, "woke", workshy and ungrateful.
Hence all their talk about doing away with doctors' sick notes, discouraging work-from-home, "Singapore on the Thames" etc. They would much rather be governing an imaginary authoritarian country somewhere in Asia with zero workers rights.
@danjac Sunak is sociopathic billionare with no real identity or belonging. He is so distant from even top earner working for normal wages that he could be from entirely different planet.
holy shit. they actually called it "reply guy". seeing the Torment Nexus and copying it for profit is one thing, but seeing a reply guy and being like "I can monetize that" is a whole new type of evil.
Looks like the US "originalist" Supreme Court is not only overturning the founding principles of the US Constitution, but the 1689 English Bill of Rights that bound the King under the law.
Any constitution, after all, is just a piece of paper subject to the whims of whoever is in power at any time.
@danjac it is really not. The majority of constitutions are codified, so if someone wants to grab power, they eventually will come in conflict with it.
It is way UK and USA does it is plain wrong and has been wrong for centuries. It has ensured rich people rule. Fact that they start to openly embrace fascism is because they have means to BS half of the populace.
@mastodonmigration@GottaLaff you really don't know half of it. Majority of power hungry sociopath problems come from personal vendettas. This is how they see world.
