@Tusky could you please not delete the search string when switching tabs from posts to accounts? I usually start typing my search, realize that I'm in the wrong tab, switch tabs, have to type again

Spent the past few hours working on the @pixelfed mobile app, and backend.

• Added command to recalculate status counts (shipped)

• Added command to refetch remote media mime types to fix an edge case in edited post media on our mobile app (shipped)

• Rewrote mobile app autolinker to better support Read more, non-latin hashtags and links (awaiting release)

• Fixed layout shift in mobile app feeds (awaiting release)

• Mobile app settings sync across devices (awaiting release)

It's easy to be an asshole maintainer.

Being able to put ego aside, handle constructive criticism and acknowledge your mistakes isn't so easy.

When I got my first webdev negative criticism about a poor design, it wrecked me. It inspired me to be better, and now I'm much more proud of my work.

It also taught me to be kinder and more receptive to criticism, and now I live for your feedback.

Pixelfed is powered by people, people like you, I just write the code

23 years ago, IBM introduced the 1Gb Microdrive for laptops - it fit in your PCMCIA expansion slot, great for expanding your laptop storage. It sold for 500 dollars. We couldn’t wait for it to be available at retail.

We just shipped a federation update to support account update activities and fix remote avatar urls.

When remote accounts you follow update their avatar, bio or display name, we now reflect those changes where appropriate.

We don't yet federate account changes, but we will soon!

Currently refactoring @pixelfed to support reblogs/shares and hashtag follows.

This means you'll soon see posts containing hashtags you follow and reblogs on your home timeline!

Will be rolling out to the webUI first, and later to the official #pixelfedApp 😉

So I finally figured out the spotty federation in @pixelfed, a legacy spam prevention measure caused remote posts/comments to be rejected if the remote account had 0 local followers.

It's embarrassing that it took this long to fix, I've been so busy with #pixelfedApp, #fediDB, #fediverseInfo and a few other projects that I haven't been able to focus on #pixelfed like I should.

I'll be laser focused on @pixelfed for the next month, just in time for our 5th birthday 😉

Just shipped some improvements to sudo mode, 2fa checkpoint and password resets, besides the redesigned layouts, it now features optional captcha support and implements a random sleep timeout to make brute forcing less useful!
