Even more #pixelfedApp progress (don't stop me now)
✅ - New README
✅ - AGPL license
✅ - Code of Conduct
✅ - Security Policy
✅ - Updated old repo readme
✅ - Updated https://pixelfed.org/mobile-apps with a link to the source code
I also pushed all the code, I'm now developing the mobile app in the open! It feels great 😎
We're rewriting our Android + iOS mobile apps to be faster, leaner and easier to use!
If you're participating in our Android and iOS open betas, the new app will be rolling out in the next week or two. We anticipate a general app store release in May or June 🚀
Auto Alt-Text and Caption Translations are popular requests for the @pixelfed app
The only way I'm comfortable implementing these are only if it can be on device, sending media or captions to an API is unacceptable for privacy reasons
That being said, I am making progress on this, though its limited to a few languages now, I look forward to shipping and expanding support for other langs
Another #pixelfedApp improvement is adding "Follows You", "Admin" labels when appropriate, and improving bio rendering by fixing Mastodon mention links, removing new lines, adjusting link colors and font weight
This update will be pretty significant and address many concerns and feedback you've given me, should be ready to ship later today!
pixelfed app new hashtag feed screen that says: Nothing here yet. Why not break the ice? Share something with the #hiddenGem hashtag and start the conversation. Start the conversation With a button to take you to the Compose Post screen
I've seen apps in TestFlight for 4 years before they get publicly released
Not saying thats how long the Pixelfed app will take, I'd rather go slow and carefully build a polished experience rather than rushing out something half baked with no or little input from the community.
I've been pretty sick the past few days, was feeling a bit better today and managed to get a new #pixelfedApp build out that should feel A LOT faster 😎
Is it just me? The home feed of Pixelfed (at least of my instance, web UI, #pixelfedapp and #pixeldroid) basically doesn't work, instead it's lagging or stuck.
I usually don't see much more than what is shown on the screenshot.
I know that code refactoring is in progress. But should it really get better after that?
Up to now, the news are mainly about new features such as hashtag following.
A motivational prospect is all I'd need. #pixelfed#pixelfedde @pixelfed@pixelfedde
Any one else having trouble with the Pixelfed app for iOS? My home feed only has a single post from Pixelfed and nothing else. And my notifications have not been working. I logged out and logged back in but it did not change.
