Pro tip: You don’t need to use NFL (Not For Laffy) on days when I’m not live-posting trial threads.

NFL is only applicable when I need to skip your replies (they pile up enormously even on non-trial and slow days), but no need to extend that courtesy on non-proceedings days.

Today, I submitted my book 367 days after signing the contract. It has been an intense, exciting, boring, distressing, depressing, and uplifting process. A bit of everything over a year, but I'm so proud of myself for pushing through. The book will be out in 2025.

Now, to figure out what to do with my time and my hands...

I don’t know who spread the rumor in the west that rice cookers are simply ‘unnecessary single use gadgets for foodies who eat a lot of rice’, I think of them more as ‘versatile device for depressed people with no (emotional, not literal) spoons’

Put rice (don’t even need to wash it), water, place vegetables, meat, tofu, eggs. Add soy sauce. Close the lid. Walk away.

And if you get a nice one: cook rice and eat off the cooker even 3 days later.

Even the cheap ones are so handy.

@RickiTarr This! I am so impressed with my dad who was repeatedly spanked by his parents. Only once did he lay a hand on me (not bad). He did have a crazy temper, though, so it’s been my goal to not repeat that with my sons. I fought my own temper for years until it suddenly clicked that it wasn’t about me being right but about them feeling safe. Don’t know why it took my so long, but they claim they don’t remember me being angry with them at all so maybe it was mainly in my head?
