My latest game of #warhammer40k was insanely fun! Took another Ork Dread Mob list, with a Stompa, against Tyranids, and it ended on a perfect draw, 75 VP each.

What matters is that a Killa Kan exploded and took out a Pyrovore, which exploded and killed a Neurotyrant that was on 1HP, and then the Stompa with 1HP charged a Hive Tyrant, killed it, then the tyrant exploded in death, killing the Stompa, which exploded and thus killed my Mek, a Deff Dread, plus DeathLeaper, and a BroodLord. Awesome!

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux Oh no hatred, they never are that useful IMO, they are justโ€ฆ there to take some choppas to the face!

I'm doing another one of my little surveys, this time to see which parts of using on the desktop are the most problematic, and the various issues people are having.

I'll make a video on these results next week, and depending on the answers, maybe I'll make more videos on specific issues, either to explain these topics, or to see how we could improve.

So, here is the form, feel free to fill it out and share it around, so we have as many answers as possible!

@gregorni @thelinuxEXP There is an option in the survey to say you don't have any issues.

@thelinuxEXP @tlenewspodcast hello
for firefox data collection feature, maybe it is far fetched, but I think that it is a sign Mozilla is getting away from privacy, at least with their browser
& for France, it just doesn't come as a surprise, for example try to open YT Aljazeera live without anything, no VPN, no Proxy, no nothing...
I do not live in the EU but that's what EU people who came to tunisia said, also, when in tunisia, browsing yt with a German VPN, Arabic news channels don't open

dm29,

@thelinuxEXP @tlenewspodcast Not the first spot in breaking news! But with Murena One at just 199, perhaps a good time to take a look

Time for this week's and News video!

In this one, we have adding some data collection (but it's fine, IMO), we have a ton of stuff happening around AI, and it's still an absolute nightmare, we have the Linux Kernel 6.9 (nice), and banning in one of its territories, which alarmed a bunch of human rights / freedom associations:

sourcerer,
@sourcerer@bsd.cafe avatar

@thelinuxEXP In defense of debian maintainer - i believe it's rational and good move (i mean default settings for keepassxc).

On my system, i have keepassxc (since i'm using this) compiled with no browser support, network support, autotype and other "crap" as he perfectly named.

"users" could learn how to compile packages with features they want.
This doesn't restricts any freedom, they just changed to better defaults.

If 'user' wants to take a risk, then that user should be on his own ... but seriously, that change was rational and good. If someone doesn't need security then... go ahead?

No one cares.

About tiktok, i don't use it and i do not provide data to China.

thelinuxEXP,
@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social avatar

@sourcerer well, one would think that the point of a package is to avoid the burden of compiling for users. If your package makes 3/4 users compile something, youโ€™ve kinda failed at packaging.

I also think that a password manager without browser support is pretty freaking usueless for most people, so, I guess we disagree on this :)

Fantastic game of this afternoon! I won with my Orks, 71 to 56, against some nasty Salamanders, with the Dread Mob detachment (without a Stompa this time).

Awesome moments included me missing 10 shots hitting on 4+ with my Meka Dread, all my Meganobz and Big Mek dying to one round of Hellblaster shooting even with 4+ invulnerable saves, 2 vehicles also exploded, which is always fun, and my gretchin were massacred by a flyer in one volley, which is also always fun ๐Ÿ˜‚

I recently started to eye the Tau. I don't know much about their lore but the models are really cool. Tho I should first finish my minis. :skull_cross:

Ah yes, I see itโ€™s time for the people in shorts to kick the ball again, as hundreds of people who have seemingly lost all politeness and semblance of being human beings shout, scream, and ยซ sing ยป in the streets and take up every single cm of the walkways with their cars.

I canโ€™t wait to move so Iโ€™m no longer close to the f**king stadium. I hate football and football supporters so much, it turns into irrational anger.

I realized that I never explained the various differences between all the different kernel variants, and since my Patrons and YouTube members voted for me to cover that topic, here we are!

Iโ€™ll go over what the real time, low latency, TKG, Zen, Liquorix, XanMod, Libre, LTS, or hardened kernels are, and which one you should pick!

https://youtu.be/_idZGJ1NgPE

thelinuxEXP,
@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social avatar

@bargoderea That would require live patching the kernel, Ubuntu offers such a service, a regular sponsor of the channel, TuxCare, also does, although Iโ€™m pretty sure they donโ€™t support Arch based systems!

bargoderea,
@bargoderea@mastodon.social avatar

@thelinuxEXP unfortunately, guess I am stuck with rebooting every month max, unless you can show me a git repo of such a tool so I can compile it myself, that shouldn't be hard, or does it?

thelinuxEXP, to Warhammer40K
@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social avatar

Well, my game didnโ€™t go well, as I tried out a dumb Dread Mob list with a Stompa! Sisters of Battle wrecked the poor thing with multi meltas, and did the same to my Gorkanaut in the same turn.

Losing half my army in one turn left me struggling, we finished the game on 53 to 75. I drew horrendous secondaries that I could never score, and my poor Ork boyz got slaughtered by the Triumph of Saint Katherine. Still, insanely fun game, and the Stompa exploding caused a lot of damage!

thelinuxEXP,
@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social avatar

@kopio @stallmer Yeah, I used to be very annoyed when I lost to one of my friends who always brings ultra competitive lists, and also plays really well, but nowadays I donโ€™t care as much.

I wonโ€™t do secondary objectives that I donโ€™t like or wouldnโ€™t fit the narrative I want to build, and if it means I lose, Iโ€™m ok with it!

>Ransomware โ€“ Pay monthly if you don't want us to syphon your data

@bargoderea @tlenewspodcast The issue is, these ROMs didnโ€™t support the phones that were suitable for the other criteria :)
It was either good hardware with bad software, or mediocre hardware with the software I wanted.
In the end, the iPhone worked better. I still look around regularly to see if the situation has evolved, and when comes time to change phones, Iโ€™ll probably move to a FairPhone.

bargoderea,
@bargoderea@mastodon.social avatar

@thelinuxEXP @tlenewspodcast still, an iPhone, I guess it is different on the EU but in tunisia, the cheapest supported one (which is old enough) costs at least 4K TND so anyone like me who loves Apple products but has a medium-high income must look at all sides on android phones (for an iPhone, one needs to have a veeeery high income because of side spending and taxes.... Etc) so you can certainly find what you need, you just need a connaisseur on the subject, not me
