A Sphinx (height 4.8 cm) carved from #ivory and with face made of amber. Found in the Grafenbühl burial near Asperg, a rich burial mound from the late Hallstadt period, dating ca. 500 BC. The Sphinx is a product of a #Greek workshop in Italy (Taranto?).
It was used as an applique and attached to a piece of furniture.

The image in this ancient Greek cup depicts a helmet-maker concentrating on adding the final touches to a Corinthian helmet.
The cup with its scene of ancient daily life had already been broken and repaired in antiquity before it was placed into a tomb, possibly of a helmet-maker. It was found only in fragments sometime in the 19th century and subsequently heavily restored.

Gold wreaths were worn in religious ceremonies, used as gifts to the gods in sanctuaries, or placed in graves as funerary offerings.
@jan I suppose that pink (ροζ/roz) was the easiest colour to start with, in the first courses. So everything is pink… the coffee, the fish, the bread, the museum, the mini market 😃

Three major #Greek shipping firms have stopped transporting Russian oil in recent weeks in order to avoid U.S. sanctions now being imposed on some shipping firms carrying Russian oil, four traders told Reuters and shipping data showed.
The development is a blow to Russia as it narrows the number of shipping firms that are ready to transport Russian oil to consumers in #Asia, #Turkey, the Middle East, #Africa and South America.
One would have imagined #Greece to be the last country to have been so willing to help #Russia 's #economy, in view of #Greek desire to resolve the #Cyprus conflict through respect for rule of #law, but Greece has proved to be beholden to it's large shipping firms (who avoid paying much Greek tax).
It's fascinating to see that the #USA has in effect been the arbiter here, making sure that Greece stops supporting Russia.

It’s definitely minuscule, as distinct from uncial or any other type of Greek script. What distinguishes it is a relative absence of ligatures; most late-medieval Greek scribes used them heavily, but a few in the 15th century had a lighter touch. Wendelin da Spira and Nicolas Jenson based their Greek types on the latter variety, but Aldus chose the former…
