This bronze helmet of the Corinthian type was found in the sanctuary at #Olympia, where large numbers of Corinthian helmets were excavated. Herodotos mentions this type of helmet as part of the equipment of the #Greek hoplites. C6th BC.
A Sphinx (height 4.8 cm) carved from #ivory and with face made of amber. Found in the Grafenbühl burial near Asperg, a rich burial mound from the late Hallstadt period, dating ca. 500 BC. The Sphinx is a product of a #Greek workshop in Italy (Taranto?).
It was used as an applique and attached to a piece of furniture.

The bus went by one of the many cemeteries that we have here in Halifax. I happened to notice a grave where the name was written using a non-English alphabet. Much to my surprise, I could read it.
Apparently, through years of exposure to mathematical formulae, I've learned the Greek alphabet through osmosis.
