Have I done here yet? I forget.

If I have, this is an updated version for 2023. Here's mine, in no particular order.

  • Centipede (my favorite game ever. Arcade version! Lemme shoot those bugs!)

  • Black Widow (also the arcade version - I'm totally hooked on this one too, and it was a more recent discovery. When I go to an arcade with retro machines, I basically just want to play this and Centipede the whole time.)

  • Wolfenstein 3D (a classic, still playable. Who doesn't love killing digital Nazis?)

  • Diablo (1, 2, 3, 4, Immortal, any. Just choose one and I love it. What a series. Hooked.)

  • Gun Nac (my favorite technical [ship based] shootemup-- if you don't count Centipede as a shootemup. A rare one for the NES. If you like shooters and get the chance to play this, even emulated, don't miss it.)

  • Wizodd (I love roguelikes and indie games, and this one is both. Just a cool, simple game that's definitely beatable and replayable. But you won't beat it every time!)

  • Mario Kart (another that it doesn't really matter the series, although the Wii one might be my favorite, closely followed by the SNES one. I definitely play the Wii one the most.)

  • Doom (1 or 2, preferably. I feel like those are most classic, and those are the ones that got me hooked. More recent ones I'm not as much about, but those first two.. wow.)

  • Beam Rider (I'm throwing this in because it's an amazing game for the Atari 2600. Maybe one of the best ones. I feel like it gets overlooked with all the other great ones on the system, River Raid, etc.)

  • Beekyr Reloaded (okay, this is a weird one. I was tempted to put Neko Navy or Q-Yo Blaster or another modern indie shootemup that I love in here somewhere instead, but Beekyr is too rad. I love bees and I love shooters, so this one was definitely for me, despite its creator not really being happy with its port.)

Those are my ten, and I'm sticking with them. (At least for today 😂). There are SO MANY other games I love, but these ten are huge.

No spoilers on the off chance that you'd watch it, but we just finished watching all five seasons of Haven, which was a show that was on SyFy from 2010-2015. Anyone seen or liked it? For those who haven't, it starred Emily Rose (from Uncharted) and the other folks in the image here. It was based on Stephen King's 'The Colorado Kid'. There's all these weird supernatural things going on based around this fictional town called Haven in Maine (it's actually filmed in Canada 🤣). The show has strong X-Files, Twin Peaks, Twilight Zone, Supernatural, and strangely, even Gilmore Girls vibes at times. And once it gets past the first season, it really finds itself. I'd never even heard of it. And I really liked it. A kinda weird choice in actor for the main villain reveal in season five (you'd know him), but now, knowing what channel it aired on, that choice might kinda make sense. Anyway, it's on Tubi. If you're into weird sci-fi horror or drama stuff, you'd probably dig.

St. Louis' STILL ANIMALS released their first self-titled LP today, and I've been waiting to hear all of this one after stumbling across them a couple months back and loving their demo.

After just listening to the whole thing, I can confirm, amazing catchy, solid garage rock songs front to back. Easily one of my favorite records of 2024 so far. Need to give this one a LOT more listens, but it's a perfect album for Bandcamp Friday - check it out!

Trying out GodoRogue tonight. It's great! You can use the keyboard commands or mouse directly to different locations, how you can see in the screenshot - the yellow line. And you can play this one in-browser. It was made in HTML5!

Well, I did it. Contacted 6 of my friends on Twitter who aren't here and I thought were the most likely to come over- the top ones I miss who aren't already here. One told me he couldn't figure it out, he's on Bluesky now. Still waiting to hear from the others, but expecting similar things. I think the feeling of starting over is too much for people? They're used to it? They like the high follower count? I don't fully get it. Whatever you want to call "engagement" or whatever, it's WAY more here. Even with separated instances, hashtag and search weirdness, it's STILL better here than Twitter or anywhere else. The only reason I wasn't here faster is because I just didn't know about it until November 2022.

Don't want to jinx it, but I'm fairly excited I may be getting a super cheapie bass guitar in a few hours. I haven't had a bass in like, maybe 20 years? 🤞

Wanted a little of something familiar and fantastic before I pass out tonight. It's been too long, Total Recall from 1990. It's been too long.

I never would've guessed 2023 would be the year I both quit Twitter AND fully switched all my Chrome stuff back to Firefox, but here we are. As of today, I'm fully Firefoxed (again, after becoming way too lax over the last few years).

To hell with Google taking over everything.

Decided yesterday to listen to a bunch of Mudhoney today and that's currently happening. I've been such a huge fan since the 90s. Got to see em live once. Their songs are so ingrained in my head from hearing them SO many times, I can often just think of a riff or a lyric or two and bam -- full song with all the lyrics just pops in my head.

Mudhoney are magical like that.

Sometimes a random Roy Orbison song pops in my head and I love it. Roy passed when I was only 8. But that's how powerful that dude was. His songs still pop in my head, despite the fact that never really actively listen to them. That's art. That's eternal.

This week's is and boy, do I hate some songs 😂

These are going to be hot takes for some of you. Matchbox 20 might be my most hated band ever. Ear garbage. I hate Rob's voice. Same with Blink. Hate em. Grating, goes right through me.

I hate all of these artists fully, but these songs are maybe my most hated from them. Can't even believe I'm posting links to these gross songs but here we are 🤮

I spotted @laamaa's post about his new album 'M8 II' on Friday but only just now had a chance to listen -- it's incredible. If you like chiptune or synthwave at ALL, this is a MUST hear (and his other stuff too). The melodies, and the dynamics, the tracks all flow so well. 🎹 🔥
