StutteringLoudly, #ADHD = almost always in waiting mode when a package is supposed to arrive but then you forget that it was supposed to arrive (or whether you ordered anything at all) so one ADHD trait cancels out the other 😂
jimmyb, I took my #Vyvanse today so it's been a real busy and productive morning! 🤩
masukomi, #ADHD med update:
lacking the ability to acquire adderal, or insurance authorization for Vivance (too expensive for them) i tried something else, which had NO effect, got refused (again) for vyvance, and am now "trying" something else. By "trying" i mean "not consuming in any way" because once again it's a drug that has insufficient supply to actually be able to acquire. So now I'm having mid-morning tea. Not that that's enough to meaningfully self-medicate but at least no addiction worry.
maxleibman, I don't give two shits who is just doing their job, or what their goddamn policy goal is, or even who has been harmed by the availability of these drugs.
The caps on production of ADHD medications are an ABOMINATION. No good person supports these policies.
I have a family member who needs one of these now-backordered medications, and I'm not interested in calling every pharmacy in town every couple weeks for the rest of their childhood.

I was delighted when I closed my 7-8 y.o. Mac then realized my laptop cover & Late-Identified AuDHD had color/pattern similarities! They both remind me of the sea glass I collect. 🤩Late-Identified #AuDHD: A Starter Workbook is out in eBook & Paperback. It is not meant to be diagnostic! It is meant for adults who are early in their self-discovery of what it means to be #autistic and have #adhd. #actuallyautistic
thor, if the ability to keep your life on track is comparable to having a natural talent for juggling, then #ADHD is like having absolutely none of it.
you can just about manage it if you try really hard, but you're just not good at that.
juggling is to keep several balls going in a circle.
i'm better at "football" (soccer). there is ONE "ball" and it keeps moving all over the place.
if i have ONE "ball" i can chase, i'm fine.
izabelamisiak, I had a video call with my coach scheduled for today, and we had some technical issues. She suggested we switch to the phone, and I agreed (I thought it was fine - yeah...). But I actually felt right away what an overwhelming disaster it was and said it wasn't working for me. And we found another solution! And I didn't have to die inside, waste my time and pay for it for the next week! I'm so proud of myself.
courtcan, Speaking of #ADHD, I should've been in bed an hour ago, but I can't seem to make myself get up and go get ready and actually get in the bed.
SIGH
Okay, here I go...

thor, "why does Thor talk about #ADHD all the time?"
because it kind of slaps me in the face every waking moment of my day. i'm constantly reminded of it.
life just looks different for me, and if i socialise, i notice the difference, and become self-conscious, because i feel like a fish out of water.
thor, told a friend of mine about my housework issues. he knows i have #ADHD.
despite having explained to him what ADHD is like, he clearly did not think through the implications.
him: you struggle with that? don't you know how to do it? i can show you how.
thanks for calling me an idiot.
only people with ADHD in the family truly get it. you can explain executive dysfunction to people, but they don't get it. they don't get it unless they see it in action (or rather the lack there of).
ADHD is not a lack of discipline. it is a disability that limits your abiltity to have it. there is a part of the brain that handles focus and discipline, and it's not fully online.
trying to have discipline is exhausting to someone with ADHD. they just burn out over time if they try to, because it takes so much effort for them.
people with #ASD can also have executive dysfunction issues. it's a really important non-verbal natural talent that normal people develop during childhood that is simply not there for us.
thor, Oppenheimer had high IQ and low executive function
https://youtu.be/nAz6lkosNcA?t=1210
made great discoveries but had an inability to focus, so other people stole the limelight.
it's a common story for people with #ADHD. bright, but not equipped with brains that are patient and able to follow things through.

btaroli, I just stumbled scross something amazing today while gathering medical notes for my son today. Without telling me, HMO actually added #ADHD to his #Autism diagnosis when they began prescribing him an ADHD med. I’m glad at least they’re doing right by him. #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #AuDHDParenting #ParentingWhilleAuDHD
donkeyherder,
thor, inventing new and increasingly bizarre ways of doing housework to keep it interesting because you have #ADHD and hate being bored
thor,
thor, me having the most intellectually challenging debates of my life
5 minutes later: what were we talking about again?
#ADHD feels like you're born senile at times...
cytokine_storm, Not my cat. But a relative’s. We are good friends. My #ADHD brain had decided that the cat’s name is irretrievably lost (??) even though I knew it yesterday.
thor, with any luck, i won't notice a difference between having #ADHD and being senile :blobcatgoogly:

thor, i really want a separate device for #ADHD management. one that makes noises i can always hear. that helps me remember where i put stuff, and knows something about what i'm doing and where, so it can give context-based cues. i guess some kind of smartwatch, so you're always wearing it.
it's really easy for me to miss the quiet little reminders on my smartphone, and they're also fiddly to set up. i want reminder templates.
i want reminders of public holidays.
i want a progress indicator that shows me how long it is until the next thing i need to remember, and it starts pulsing faster as the time approaches.
i also want the calendar to start nagging me when it gets close, and not stop doing that until i've confirmed that i checked it.
some of these things are tricky to do with a regular smartphone or smart watch because the OS restricts it.
oh, and also, i want homing beacons to attach to stuff and a little app that can sense when you're getting closer.
and it should be a single device and it should all be integrated and smooth like some kind of Apple device.

thor, my main way of procrastinating is posting my deranged thoughts here on the Fediverse. i hope you're all enjoying it, because there's probably something important i should be doing instead.
