Syd,

I Love how the hse makes me send letters to receive a prescription four weeks later that half the time don’t get seen. What’s with the paper obsession? Why can’t you use email for that or some swift queue stuff? . I have this letter sending is my personal hell

I sew clothes and quilts.
I grow flowers and food.
I play with and make dollhouse miniatures occasionally.
I dance and DJ West coast swing, but am currently on hiatus.

I think nerdiness, curiosity, and passion for whatever fascinates you is beautiful and powerful. I'm especially into music and various other arts geekery, but I also just love learning in general.

I'm liberal AF. Despite all my rage, I strive to be kind - but don't mistake kindness for niceness.

Another useful app I’ve only started using recently but might be helpful to other neurospicy people is Goblin Tools.
It’s iOS only but the website version is free: https://goblin.tools/
It has several really useful tools to help with executive function but my favourite is the Magic Todo.
You type in any task and it breaks it down into manageable steps.
If any of those steps seem too much or you’re not sure where to start, you can break them down even further.

A screenshot showing the first step broken down further into “gather all clothes from the floor” and “identify the appropriate place for each item”

An interesting article at Scientific American, about brain waves synching when people interact. It makes me wonder about those times that I have instantly "clicked" with someone, and the times when "clicking" has been impossible, as if our interaction were a case of grinding gears.

Also makes me think about how my clicking seems to happen most with and people.

"Reconsider your course design." Louder for the folks in the back.

Rather than thinking of disabled students as the enemy creating more work, ask yourself how you can make your course more accessible from the start. How can you build in more support? What changes reduce the need for accommodations to begin with?

Estrella,

Hey, or fam, do any of you ever feel like you have more side effects with longterm medication than other people you know? Or, if you aren't in any way neurodiverse, do you often/almost always experience some side effects on most longterm medications too? Either way, I'm very curious and I just want to figure this out because it's bugging me.

Saw something about dating/relationships for / / people & it got me thinking.

Do we have our own dating site/app? If not, why not?

We often face barriers when it comes to the kind of F2F scenarios where couples tend to meet, we have a higher % chance to have crossover with someone in terms of relationship needs & communication style if they’re also ND & we’re more likely to be direct/honest & not waste people’s time.

And no one would fake their hobbies/interests info 😊

For folks in the US with noise sensitivities, you should be aware that this year we’ve seen an apparent record breaking amount of firework purchases in the country. I’m sure you’re hearing it already (as I have been).

You may want to be proactive with noise cancellation if you have headphones or ear plugs or something.

"Dark Worlds, Dark Matters"

@actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Premise: A young, nonbinary alien artist from a distant planet in a large galactic empire, renowned for creating virtual worlds that reflect their unique perception of reality due to their autism, is invited to submit their work for a galaxy-wide competition for disabled artists.

The competition is organized by a seemingly benevolent NGO peace organization. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the organization is exploiting the artist and their unique ability for political power and funding.

Themes: Exploitation, Artistic Expression, Disability Rights, Political Intrigue, Ethical Dilemmas, Unresolved Love, Personal Growth, Gender Identity

Log Line: A nonbinary alien artist's journey to fame becomes a battleground for political power, forcing them to confront exploitation and redefine their identity, all while navigating the complexities of an unresolved love interest.

Hooks:

  1. The protagonist's unique ability to create virtual worlds that offer others a glimpse into their autistic perception of reality.

  2. The political intrigue and corruption within the NGO.

  3. The protagonist's struggle to balance their passion for art with the exploitation they face.

  4. The unresolved love interest that adds a layer of emotional complexity to the protagonist's journey.

MacGuffins:

  1. The protagonist's most immersive virtual world that becomes the center of attention.

  2. A secret document revealing the NGO's true intentions.

  3. The grand prize of the competition, which holds more than just monetary value.

Book Premise: "Dark Worlds, Dark Matters" is a poignant tale of a young nonbinary alien artist's journey through exploitation, self-discovery, and unresolved love.

As they navigate the complexities of a galaxy-wide art competition, they uncover a web of political intrigue that forces them to question their values and the true meaning of their art.

Book Outline: Act 1: Introduction of the protagonist, their world, and their unique ability to create virtual worlds. They receive the invitation for the competition.

Act 2: The protagonist prepares for the competition, facing various challenges due to their autism and the exploitation by the NGO. They also meet and develop feelings for a female competitor.

Act 3: The protagonist uncovers the NGO's true intentions and decides to fight back. Their relationship with their love interest deepens but remains unresolved.

Act 4: The climax of the story where the protagonist confronts the NGO and the final results of the competition are revealed. The unresolved love interest provides a hopeful yet ambiguous ending.

Act 5: The resolution where the protagonist comes to terms with their experiences, makes a decision about their future as an artist, and looks forward to a potential future with their love interest.

Character Descriptions and Arcs:

  1. Protagonist: A young, nonbinary alien artist with a unique ability to create virtual worlds. They start as a naive artist excited about the competition but grow into a determined individual who stands up against exploitation.

Their relationship with their love interest adds an emotional layer to their journey.

  1. NGO Leader: A charismatic but manipulative leader who exploits the protagonist for their own gain. They are eventually exposed and faces the consequences of their actions.

  2. Protagonist's Love Interest: A female competitor who the protagonist develops feelings for. Their relationship remains unresolved throughout the story, adding a layer of emotional complexity.

  3. Protagonist's Mentor: An older, experienced artist who guides the protagonist and helps them see the truth about the NGO.

Art Pieces Descriptions: The protagonist's virtual worlds are a reflection of their unique perception of reality, capturing the essence of their alien world and their experience with autism. They are immersive, emotive, and unlike anything seen in the galaxy before.

Their art pieces evolve throughout the story, reflecting their personal growth and the challenges they face.

Galactic Political Intrigue: The story explores the political dynamics within the galactic empire, particularly the power struggle between different planets and the NGO's role in it.

Ethical Dilemmas: The protagonist faces several ethical dilemmas throughout the story, such as whether to continue participating in the competition despite the exploitation and how to expose the NGO's true intentions without harming other artists.

They also grapple with the question of whether their art is worth the price of their dignity and the exploitation of their unique ability.

Epic Scope: The story spans across different planets within the galactic empire, providing a grand backdrop for the protagonist's journey. It also delves into the diverse cultures and societies within the empire, adding depth and complexity to the narrative.

Treatment: "Dark Worlds, Dark Matters" is a unique, poignant tale set in a richly imagined alien world. It explores the intersection of art and autism, the exploitation within seemingly benevolent organizations, and the complexities of unresolved love.

With its deep character introspection, the exploration of ethical dilemmas, and the protagonist's unique ability to create virtual worlds, the story offers a fresh perspective on the classic themes of exploitation and resistance.

It challenges stereotypes about disability and gender identity and presents a nuanced portrayal of an artist's journey.

I use ChatGPT to brainstorm and Midjourney to collaborate on artwork. Now, I just have to find the right hormonal balance to work again.
